An HMS Hermes Step Tread. Polished rectangular cast bronze with embossed HERMES within rectangular border c/w scalloped corners to centre of stippled plate. From the ‘Centaur’ class Royal Navy aircraft carrier commissioned 25/11/1959 and serving as flagship of the British Forces during the 1982 Falklands conflict. Decommissioned 1984 and sold to India in 1986 becoming INS Viraat and decommissioned 2016 and due to be preserved. The step tread is mounted on a wooden backing with engraved brass plaques 1959 – H.M.S. HERMES – 1984 to top and PRESENTED BY THE H.M.S. HERMES DECOMMISSION CREW PORTSMOUTH NAVAL DOCKYARD 1985 to bottom. Step 26” x 11”. A superb historical item.

A well finished and imposing model. 17½” long.

A Nameplate COSSACK WARSHIP CLASS. Rectangular cast aluminium from North British type 4 A1A - A1A, class 41 Works No. 27664 D604 introduced 01/1959 at 83D (Laira). Named from new this loco was the last of a class numbering five. Withdrawn 12/1967 from 84A (Laira) and cut-up by J. Cashmore, Newport 08/11968. The plate which is stamped D604 to the rear was repatriated from the ‘Victoria’ restaurant chain in the USA. It was screwed to the wall and these holes have been professionally aluminium repaired being virtually undetectable. Repainted front, cleaned back.

Renumbered 4925 in 1946 and 64925 01/1948. Latterly shedded at Darlington, Blaydon and Tweedmouth from where it was withdrawn 03/12/1962 and cut-up at Darlington Works. Repainted background to front.
