Spartan Race, Apr. 14-15

There’s more to Spartan racing than simply taking on obstacles or running through mud. It’s all about challenging yourself and overcoming your inner limitations. While you’re at it, challenge your friends, co-workers, and colleagues for shared experience not soon forgotten!

Meadow Wood Equestrian Center in Snohomish will host three days of Spartan races and activities in a spectator-friendly format. While the overall course is fairly flat, the race offers a number of mountainous trails, rolling hills, creeks, rocky byways, and – of course – plenty of obstacles.

With more than 200 events in over 30 countries, Snohomish County is excited to host one of the five races in the 2018 Spartan U.S. National Championship Series. More prize money than ever before will be awarded to the top finishers. The championship series will culminate in Lake Tahoe later this year where the World Champions will be crowned.

Choose Your Race• Spartan Super Race is 8 to 10 miles of rugged terrain with 24 to 29

grueling obstacles. [Saturday morning]• 12-Hour Hurricane Heat is a team endurance challenge expanded

to include an element of individuality. Max 100 participants [Friday evening]

• Spartan Sprint Race is a 3-plus mile event with 20 to 23 obstacles, and a perfect option for those new to Spartan racing. [Sunday morning]

• Hurricane Heat is a no-timing chip, just-for-fun experience traversing on and off the Spartan Race course that runs four to six hours. [Saturday evening]

• Kids’ Races offer children a chance to get into the action with open and competitive spanning one-half mile, one mile, and two-mile courses. [Saturday & Sunday]

Attend the free Open House Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. for pre-race practice, guided obstacle tour with SGX-certified coaches, early access to merchandise, and meet other competitors.

Everett Silvertips Hockey Action

The Everett Silvertips are having an amazing season in the Western Hockey League (WHL)! The Tips post season has been spectacular thus far. In the first round The Silvertips battled the Seattle Thunderbirds winning the series in a 4-0 victory in game 5 for a 4-1 series victory.

One of the Silvertips’ key playoffs players has been goaltender Carter Hart. He was the first goaltender selected in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, and helped his native Canada win gold at the 2018 World Junior Ice Hockey championship. Hart was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers, and is viewed as one of the top prospects in the WHL. In the final playoff game against the Seattle Thunderbirds, Hart had 36 saves in the big shout out win! The team is now set for Round 2 of the playoffs on home ice. As of this report, they are set to play either Portland or Spokane.

Auto Racing Season Gears Up at Evergreen Speedway

Nauqitue WWA National Championships, July 25-28

Lake Tye Park will host another exciting wakeboarding championship this summer. The Nauqitue WWA National

Championships presented by Rockstar™ is coming for the first time to Monroe.

Over 200 amateur and pro athletes will be competing over four days. Amateur wakeboarders, including young and

master athletes, from across the United States will perform their tricks in competition Wednesday and Thursday.

The world’s top pro wakeboarders take to the water on Friday. The final round for the WWA National Championship

takes place on Saturday.
