What is important to us? What is the role of possessions or material things in our hearts? In the light of this Sunday's gospel we must reflect. God can bless a person with resources and material things that help the continuity of his Kingdom and the salvation of his children. Being creator and owner of everything does not skimp on blessing according to his plan. Incidentally, abundance, prosperity and even wealth in the Old Testament were considered as ways in which God poured blessings on his people. This was perceived at the individual level and as a nation. But unfortunately money, associated with power, has influenced our society in a profound way by making it a primary motivator, a status sign and an idol. When money becomes the sole domain of our lives we forget the true objective of our existence. It is precisely in this environment that proclaims the primacy of money, where we have to keep our eyes on the true God, who is our Father God, in his icon (image) who is our Lord Jesus Christ. Now, where lays the sagacity of the butler who failed in the first place? Its merit lies precisely in its detachment from the material. In the time of Jesus an administrator, responsible for collecting debts for his boss could add a commission to the debt. This commission was for himself. This was a common practice. When the administrator is notified that his negligent action will have negative consequences for him, he has a conversion. He doesn't want to be fired and changes his priorities. He simply does not charge what his commission would be to the debtors, remaining in good terms with the debtors and showing their cunning before the owner. In the final analysis we see its change of values and its own detachment from money. The result? Justice for those who owed and complacency for the owner. Possessions are a vehicle, a resource. They are not an end. It is not possible to serve God and money. In our hearts there should only be one place for God, manifesting in our faithfulness to Him and the love of neighbor. True love begins with small things: a flower, a coffee, a word of support, an apology... Our wealth lies precisely in the neighbor in how we extend a helping hand in times of need and in our faithfulness to God. God in wealth and God in poverty! Always God...

¿Qué es importante para nosotros? ¿Cuál es el papel de las posesiones o cosas materiales en nuestro corazón? A la luz del evangelio de este domingo debemos de reflexionar. Dios puede bendecir a una persona con recursos y cosas materiales que ayuden a la continuidad de su Reino y a la salvación de sus hijos. Siendo creador y dueño de todo no escatima en bendecir según su plan. Dicho sea de paso la abundancia, prosperidad y hasta la riqueza en el Viejo Testamento estaban consideradas como maneras con las cuales Dios derramaba bendiciones a su pueblo. Esto se percibía a nivel individual y como nación. Pero desafortunadamente el dinero, asociado con poder, ha influenciado nuestra sociedad de una manera profunda convirtiéndolo en un motivador primario, un signo de status y en un ídolo. Cuando el dinero se

convierte en el dominio único de nuestras vidas nos olvidamos del verdadero objetivo de nuestra existencia. Es precisamente en medio de este ambiente que proclama la primacía del dinero,

donde tenemos que mantener nuestra mirada en el Dios verdadero, quien es nuestro Padre Dios, en su icono (imagen) quien es nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Ahora bien, ¿En dónde reside la sagacidad del mayordomo que falló en primer lugar? Su mérito reside precisamente en su desprendimiento a lo material. En el tiempo de Jesús un administrador, responsable de recaudar deudas para su jefe podía añadir a la deuda una comisión. Esta comisión era para si mismo. Esta era una

práctica común. Cuando se notifica al administrador que su acción negligente tendrá consecuencias negativas para el mismo, tiene una conversión. El no quiere ser despedido y cambia

sus prioridades. Simplemente no le cobra lo que sería su comisión a los deudores, quedando en buenos términos con los deudores y mostrando su astucia ante el dueño. En el análisis final vemos su cambio de valores y propio desprendimiento al dinero. ¿El resultado? Justicia para los que debían y complacencia para el dueño. Las posesiones son un vehículo, un recurso. No son un fin. No es posible servir a Dios y al dinero. En nuestro corazón sólo debe haber un lugar para Dios, manifestándose en nuestra fidelidad a Él y el amor al prójimo. El verdadero amor comienza con pequeñas cosas: una flor, un café, una palabra de apoyo, una disculpa… Nuestra riqueza reside precisamente en el prójimo en como extendemos una mano amiga en momentos de necesidad y en nuestra fidelidad a Dios. ¡Dios en la riqueza y Dios en la pobreza! Siempre Dios…

The new Religious Education Year is off to a great start, and we trust that God is renewing us in His image through the events taking place in the program. One such event is our first of three All Parents meetings, which is scheduled for next Saturday, September 28th at 9:30 A.M. The purpose of these meetings is for parents to be informed of important information about the program, including program requirements, including fees and schedule. In addition, the meetings give parents an opportunity to ask any program related questions. The two additional meetings will take place on Saturday, November 16th and Saturday, February 15th. El nuevo año de educación religiosa ha tenido un gran comienzo y confiamos en que Dios nos está renovando a su imagen a través de los eventos que tienen lugar en el programa. The Alumni Association of De La Salle invites you to attend the 124th Annual Alumni Banquet on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Beverly Country Club at 87th and Western in Chicago.

The evening begins at 5 pm with receptions for the Golden Jubilee Class of 1969 and the Silver Jubilee Class of 1994. The all-class reception follows at 6 pm with program and dinner at 7 pm.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets every Wednesday in the Thiele Center from 10am to noon. This group knits and crochets prayer shawls while praying individually and as a group for the recipient of each shawl. These

shawls represent a visible symbol of our prayers and presence. Shawls have been given to those facing challenging times, illness or to celebrate a special moment to bring the comfort and warmth of God’s love and healing. El Ministerio Mantas de Oración se reúne todos los miércoles en el Centro Pastoral de 10am a medio día. Este grupo hace mantas de oración hechos de tejido o de ganchillo mientras rezan individualmente y como grupo para que el receptor de cada manta. Estas mantas representan un símbolo visible de nuestras oraciones y presencia. Las mantas se han dado a aquellos que enfrentan tiempos difíciles, enfermedad o para celebrar un momento especial para llevar el apoyo y la calidez del amor de Dios y la sanación.
