INFRASTRUCTURE AND LANDSCAPING PROJECT AND

CONSTRUCTION WORKS

The infrastructure works at the EXPO 2016 Antalya site have been completed: • Waste water line, • Rain water drainage line, • Potable water line, • Irrigation and fire extinguishing water

line. For the energy need of the site, the required electrical line construction works have been completed.

CONSTRUCTIONS PROJECT AND

CONSTRUCTION WORKS The constructions of the following : • The Congress Centre • The Indoor Gardens and the

Administration Building • The Children Island, the Bridges and

the EXPO Lake Shore Structures • The Sales Kiosks, the Food Courts, the

Art Exhibition Centre and Cafeteria • The Large and Small Amphitheatres • The VIP Building, the Press Centre

and the Logistic Buildings

have already started and will be completed in 2015.

PLANTING WORKS

The planting at the site is being carried out. The transplantation of ca. 1300 trees on the rail system line that is to be extended from the city centre to the EXPO site has commenced.

MOSAICULTURES

A meeting has been held with the authorities of the Mosaïcultures Internationales de Montréal / Canada for the design of vegetal sculptures that are to be exhibited on a surface area of da. 10 in front of the international gardens. The aim is to reflect the relations between the animals, plants and humans. The selection and design of the figures are ongoing.

INTERNATIONAL

RELATIONS As of today, 25 countries have decided to participate in EXPO 2016 Antalya.

Our President, our Prime Minister as well as our various Ministers held bi-

lateral discussions with their counterparts in Mexico, Colombia, Cuba, Italy,

Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia Herzegovina, Kyrgyzstan and Tanzania for their

participation in EXPO 2016 Antalya.

Their reaction was positive and diplomatic discussions at senior level are

being closely followed by our Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our Agency.

The coming NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting and the G-20 Summit both to

be held in Antalya will be an opportunity to increase the number of

participants.

INTERNATIONAL

RELATIONS The Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock spoke at the 7th

Ambassadors’ Conference organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of

Turkey and Ambassadors were asked to lobby for the participation of

countries that they are residing or accredited to.

Participation to the 7th Berlin Agriculture Ministers’ Summit and the 38th

Session of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)’s

Governing Council in Rome were also used as an opportunity to reiterate our

invitation for the countries to participate.

organisations, the Foreign Ambassadors’ Reception has been held on February the 19th, 2015 in Ankara with a broad attendance.

Antalya, “Antalya in Bloom” project has been submitted to “Communities in

Bloom” competition, an international organization based in Canada.

NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES

In order to raise the national as well as international awareness to EXPO 2016 Antalya, the Agency took part in 122 activities, such as fairs, festivals and various meetings between September 2014 and February 2015.

PROMOTIONAL EVENTS

To this end, activities and competitions, such as “Ethno-botanic” and “Picture Drawing, Poem and Essay Writing”, are being carried out in all 81 provinces of Turkey to increase awareness of children towards environment. The collection of endemic plants from all over Turkey will also be displayed at the Expo site to imbue future generations with the importance of environment and environmental issues.
