Cultural Complex in ShenzhenThe Dutch team is building a new complex, comprising three cultural centers and a large bookstore, in the city of Shenzhen, on the southern coast of China. Fragmented into four volumes, the project seeks revitalizing its environment acting as an urban connec-tor. To accomplish this objective, it is arranged as a huge arcade of adjacent constructions between which open different pathways con-necting the square with the new financial dis-trict. The curved design of the facade supports the natural flow of passers-by, while the one-ness of shape, height, and material of the dif-ferent volumes produces a visually cohesive complex without needing a continuous facade.

Mecanoo ArchitectenEl equipo holandés está construyendo en la ciu-dad de Shenzhen —en la costa meridional de China—, un nuevo complejo que incluye tres cen-tros culturales y una gran librería. Fragmentado en cuatro volúmenes, el proyecto busca revitali-zar su entorno actuando como conector urbano, para lo que se dispone como una gigantesca arquería de construcciones adyacentes entre las que se abren distintos pasos que vinculan la plaza con el nuevo distrito financiero. El diseño curvo de la fachada apoya el flujo natural de los transeúntes, mientras que la unicidad de forma, altura y material de los volúmenes produce un conjunto visualmente cohesionado sin necesi-dad de recurrir a una fachada continua.

The studio of the Italian architect Stefano Boeri has chosen Paris for its next green skyscraper. Located in the city of Villiers-sur-Marne and named Fôret Blanche, the building will be 54 meters high and will shelter 2,000 trees.

La propuesta seleccionada para remodelar el aeropuerto de Marsella ha sido la presentada por el equipo de Norman Foster; tendrá capacidad para 12 millones de pasajeros al año, se construirá en dos fases y contará con una terraza panorámica.

Los suizos resultaron ganadores frente a finalistas como BIG, OMA o Dominique Perrault, y construirán para el banco suizo una nueva sede mundial que albergará hasta 2.600 trabajadores y estará previsiblemente terminada en 2021.

MVRDV ha presentado WERK12, un edificio adornado con palabras de jerga alemana de Internet de cinco metros de altura como homenaje a la cultura del grafiti del vecindario. El edificio albergará restaurantes, oficinas y un gimnasio.

El estudio de Hamburgo ha ganado el concurso para levantar un nuevo acceso a Rostock, recuperando el carácter monolítico de las puertas históricas cuyas ruinas se eliminaron en 1960, generándose un debate sobre su reconstrucción poco después.

The Hamburg-based studio has won the competition to build a new access to Rostock, recovering the monolithic character of the historic doors whose ruins were removed in 1960, and raising discussions on their reconstruction shortly after.

The winning proposal of the competition to remodel Marseille Airport, main gateway to Provence, is that of Norman Foster. With capacity for 12 million passengers per year, it will be built in two phases and will feature a panoramic terrace.

H&deM’s proposal was chosen over those of BIG, OMA, or Dominique Perrault, so they will be in charge of building the new world headquarters for the Swiss bank, which will have capacity for a staff of up to 2,600, and is slated for completion in 2021.

MVRDV has unveiled the design of WERK12, a building adorned with 5-meter-tall German internet slang words as a homage to the neighborhood’s graffiti culture. The building will contain restaurants, office space, and a multi-story fitness center.

‘Cerámica’, una nueva exposición en RIBA North con el apoyo de Tile of Spain/ASCER, explora el uso de la cerámica en la arquitectura, y permanecerá abierta hasta el próximo 10 de febrero con toda una serie de instalaciones a gran escala.

La exposición mostrará más de 270 maquetas, bocetos y dibujos del japonés hasta el próximo 18 de diciembre. Las piezas se organizan en seis secciones e incluyen una réplica a gran escala de la Iglesia de la Luz en la zona al aire libre.

‘Cerámica,’ a new exhibition at RIBA North with the support of Tile of Spain/ASCER, explores the use of ceramics in architecture, and will remain open until 10 February 2018 with a series of large-scale installations.

The exhibition features more than 270 models, sketches, and drawings by the Japanese architect. The pieces are organized in six sections, including a full-scale replica of the Church of the Light in the open-air area.
