from your Pastor To God be the glory for what He has done! I am blessed how God has led us through the first six months of this year. While many can still be done, He never failed to show that He indeed works in many members and in our church as a family. I am glad for reports of numbers and its growth, but much more I rejoice in God’s working in each in- dividual lives through the power of God’s Word. As God has allowed us to reach the half-way mark of this year, let us keep in mind our yearly theme of Continuing. There are still more souls to be reached, more families to be helped, much lives that God can change, many miracles to be seen and more of His power to be revealed. As our theme for this month challenges us, let us keep on laboring and working for the Lord! All la- bour and investment done for God will never be in vain. As your pastor, I encourage you to love God more and be faithful in His vineyard! Have a great Sunday! VOLUME 23 > ISSUE 27> JULY 7 DR. ED M. LAURENA

For more than 34 years, soulwinning has consistently been the theme and tenet of the church in obedience of

the Great Commission. The Lord Jesus Christ plainly stated in John 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” The Lord has indeed brought forth fruit here in this Church. We have seen God's imprint on saved souls, changed lives, and invested influ-ence through all these years and we are prompted to continue on and be more zealous despite the growing apathy and indifference even within the Christian cir-cles.

We praise God for allowing us to experience a bountiful harvest of souls for the first half of the year through innumer-able professions of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Personal Saviour. This was a joyful effort from respective Area and Gospel Teams by church members and workers. We thank the Lord that He has graciously blessed us to bring in a total of 9,918 first time visitors and 664 baptisms. We are hopeful that the seeds sown in the new converts’ hearts will yield fruits for God's glory.

As we embark on the second half of the year, let us evaluate and chal-lenge our compassion-meter for this great burden to those that are lost. In an increasingly decadent and indifferent so-ciety, may we not be guilty of what the prophet Jeremiah has penned in Lam-entation 1:12 “Is is nothing to you, all ye that pass by?...” Humanly speaking, it is neither easy, nor convenient to go soul-winning, but we must do it because Je-sus said, “Go Ye” and so we must. It is a sin not to go soulwinning, because the Lord commanded us to “Go Ye” into all the world and make disciples of all men. The world and its inhabitants are desper-ately dying and going to Hell in their sins and their only hope is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As believers, we have the noble re-sponsibility and privilege of winning souls to Christ. May we not willfully and fool-ishly forfeit this great task over vain and temporal gain.

There is no greater joy in the world, next to being saved, than to win some-one personally to Jesus Christ. Let us all celebrate with an obedient heart that we are participators when the Lord said in His Word “Go Ye...” LET US CONTINUE WIN-NING SOULS.

It is said that when John Wesley was in his eighties, he complained in his diary that he was struggling with being tempted to stay in bed until 5:30 in the morning! One of the

most active and productive evangelists in his-tory, Wesley is said to have traveled more than a quarter of a million miles on horseback, and to have preached over four thousand sermons. One thing is for sure, Wesley knew how to work. In spite of difficulties throughout his lifetime, he simply took the initiative to do what God had called him to do.

One of the most difficult things to find in our day is people who are willing to work hard without waiting for someone else to decide what needs to be done and issue instructions. Our culture and society no longer regards work as it once did. Instead of being seen as a way to honor God and provide for our needs, work is often viewed as something to be avoided as much as possible.

Work is not part of the curse that came upon the world with sin. (God had already assigned tasks to Adam prior to the Fall. The curse was that work becamemore difficult.) Work is important because it helps build strength of character. When a society makes it easy for people who are able to work to survive without working, they are undermining their very foundations. Paul laid out God’s plan by inspiration when he wrote: “If any would not work, neither should he eat” (2 Thessaloni-ans 3:10). God’s plan is for us to get up, look around, find what needs to be done and do it.

Love to God will help a man to persevere in service when otherwise he would have

given up his work.- C.H. Spurgeon

A young man excitedly told his mother that he had fallen in love and want-ed to get married. He said, “Just for

fun I’m going to bring over three ladies to see if you can pick which one I’m going to marry.” The next day he brought them over and said, “Ok Mom, go ahead and guess.” She immediately said, “The one in the middle.” “That’s amazing Mom. How did you know?” “I don’t like her!”

None of us are perfect and we all have setbacks. Yet God has made each of us individually and He desires to use us. Some people feel they are inadequate or unqualified to be used by God, but God shows us that He can use anyone!

Moses had a speech impediment, yet God used Him to lead the nation of Israel out of captiv- ity. Rahab had lived a sinful life, yet God use her to hide the spies and save her family from the des- truction of Jericho. Jo- nah had run from God, yet he was used to see the entire city of Nineveh converted to Christ. No matter what limitations we have or how inadequate we feel, God desires to use us! -http://www.dailyintheword.org

WORK

Someone once said, "Every church is filled with willing people-some willing to work, and others willing to let them." Which kind of person are you? As Christians, we have the privilege of serving the Lord by laboring in our local church. And what's more, when we serve others, the Lord sees and promises to reward us for it. Here are three ways you can invest yourself in laboring for the Lord.

Labor in your ministries. Whether you teach a Sunday school class, serve on a bus route, or clean the church, do it with all your heart. The work of the Lord is an eternally enduring work, so why not give Him one hundred per-cent?

Labor in your witness. A wise person said, "Ev-ery saved person this side of heaven owes the Gospel to every lost person this side of hell." By reaching others with the Gospel and discipling new believers, we accomplish

the very purpose of the church. Keep Gos-pel tracts handy to give to those you meet throughout the day, and always be ready to share the Gospel with those you meet.

Labor in your giving. Giving to the Lord in tithes and offerings not only provides for the work of the Lord, but sacrificial giving also in-creases our faith. When we trust God with our finances, we will see Him bless us and meet all our needs. Whatever you give to the Lord's work is an eternal investment, so labor in your giving and watch the windows of heaven pour out blessings on your life.

By laboring in your church you can encourage your pastor, strengthen your church, and experience the joy of the Lord in your own life. Give yourself wholeheartedly to serving the Lord. -http://www.dailyintheword.org
