Processes for hard stone

Natural stone processing plants serve primarily for theproduction of

• Aggregate materials for concrete and asphalt• Ballast and chippings• Pre-defined grain mixes for road building

When crushing hard stone, the selection of the crushersto be used for the individual crushing steps is decisive forthe productivity of the equipment:

• Jaw crushers• Cone crushers• Horizontal shaft impact crushers (HSI)• Vertical shaft impact crushers (VSI)

Working on the basis of the characteristics of the stone(hardness, resistance, abrasiveness) and on the goals setby the company, our experienced SBM team can offer aninvestment proposal which give the customer data on theamortisation of the equipment as well as any futuredevelopments in the running costs.

Stationary equipment - hard stone

The arrangement of the processing stages/sequence ofprocedures is determined by the processes required:

• Primary-crushing/secondary-crushing/finecrushing

• Cubitizing• Fines extraction• Pre-separating/screening/grading• Temporary storage, depositing, stockpiling• Dosing• Loading

Working in cooperation with you SBM can convert a suit-able processing concept into a viable commercial solu-tion, taking all the local conditions into account.

Under certain local conditions and quarrying characteris-tics mobile primary-crushing within a stationary process-ing plant offers a particularly flexible and commerciallyviable alternative. You can keep pace with the progress in quarrying workusing the tracked mobile primary-crusher or carry outthe primary-crushing on a variety quarry levels. The con-nection to a transfer bunker – either stationary or mov-able by means of a mobile belt conveyor– can be effec-ted by means of mobile mobcon conveyor belts.

Stationary equipment – limestone

Processes for medium-hard stone

In the processing plants for medium-hard stone with lowquartz content, heavy duty discharge units under thefeed bunker, respectively reciprocating feeders areinstalled.

If stone such as limestone, marl or gypsum shouldcontain high levels of moisture, sticky content andimpurities, special equipment such as apron feeders andwobblers are frequently used in the primary-crushingplants.

The demands made of these crushed products have tocomply with the same strict norms as for hard stone. Ifthere is little consistency in the stone or it is irregular, theselective crushing of the impact crusher improves thepressure and impact resistance of the products pro-duced in the crushing process.

SBM can plan and supply you with equipment with therequired process and material flow technology whichmeets exactly the conditions – sometimes critical - madeby the materials, including those which are often difficultto screen or inclined to stick on. This goes right throughto include the use of trommel washers, log washers andflip-flop screening equipment.

SBM puts great store in the fact that products used intheir plant completely meet all norms. You can assureyourself of a competitive advantage with SBM.

Processes for sand and gravel preparation

It’s great to have the choice! You can’t choose the rawmaterials you have in your deposits – but you canchoose the equipment with which you can produce highgrade sand and gravel grains from the most difficultsource materials, giving you the highest quality in themost cost effective way.

The lack of deposits which are both easy to quarry andmeet official approval often forces the contractor toextract sand and gravel which contain impurities. Loam, clay, wood or coal require efficient system solutions, depending on the quantities and characteristics involved,so that aggregates can be produced which are unadul-terated when washed and ideal in composition.

SBM will support you in your planning and design stages, and later when it comes to converting these into viabletechnical solutions.

• Pre-separating

• Cleaning

• Refining and Grading

• Washing

• De-watering

• Water circulation

• Crushing

• Grain adjustment

• Screening, classifying

• Depositing

Together with you SBM will provide the most efficientsolutions.

The SBM technical infrastructure, with its scientifictesting methods and extensive database underpinsnumerous projects. The creative ideas of our engineering team can make agood investment out of your gravel pit.

Stationary equipment – recycling applications

From processing to recycling

For SBM recycling means more than the processing ofmineral construction waste such as concrete, asphalt orbrick debris. SBM has commissioned recycling plants forservice worldwide, for the most varied sectors andapplications. In this the company has proved the highestlevel of potential, both in its core competency andflexibility.

From a wide range of examples here are a few of themost important examples:

• Sorting and processing of construction waste• Processing of LD and steel plant slag, reclamation

of iron and non-iron elements• Processing of waste incineration plant slag

The goals set by specific sectors can vary enormously. These range from the production of high-grade con-struction materials through to re-usable raw materials. Itis here that economical with primary raw materials, ener-gy or expensive waste disposal space play such animportant role. In individual cases the commercial andenvironmental considerations for a successful recyclingsystem have to be examined. Even in the initial stages,SBM can help by offering intelligent concepts and solu-tions with these considerations in mind.

From A (asphalt recycling) to Z and back again to A(aggregate production) high performance and commer-cially viable total solutions from SBM document the com-pany’s high levels of competence – and on a globalstage.

If you can’t find reference to your specific area ofactivity amongst these selected examples - just ask us.Profit from engineering quality, “Made in Austria”.
