    SGSN provides an alternative to move SS7 signalling from TDM to IP using SCTP transport protocol layer and M3UA user adaptation layer based on IETF signalling transport work group SIGTRAN.

    Load of signalling links in conventional SS7 signalling network can be decreased by connecting part of signalling traffic via IP network.
