Tacoma OFF DAY OF NOTE: RH Jordan Pries has allowed only 4 runs over his last 3 starts (1.83 ERA /4 ER, 19.2 IP). Since April 30, Pries is 4-4 with a

2.41 ERA (18 ER, 67.1 IP) in his last 10 starts. During this stretch he has limited opponents to a .225 average (55x244) with 21 walks and 52 strikeouts. Overall this season with Tacoma, Pries has tossed at least 6.0 innings in 9 of his 13 starts, while allowed 1 run or less 8 times. Since allowing a 1 earned run (2 R) in 0.1 innings in his season debut on May 31, RH Todd Coffey (2-0-2, 0.96) has allowed only 3 hits and struck out 10 in 9.0 scoreless innings. Since June 1, INF Gabriel Noriega has hit safely in 18 of 22 games, batting .315 (28x89)

the Rainiers is he batting .222 (6x27) with 2 runs scored 2 doubles, 1 home run, 3 RBI and 3 walks. He was placed on 15-day disabled list with a strained left quad June 11 (retro to 6/10). Smoak had appeared in Seattle’s first 63 games of the season prior to missing the game on June 10. In 63 games, he is hitting .208 (45x216) with 26 runs, 12 doubles, 7 home runs and 29 RBI this season. SAUNDERS ON REHAB ASSIGNMENT: OF Michael Saunders began his rehab assignment with AAA Tacoma on June 20. In 5 rehab

starts with Tacoma, he is batting .450 (9x20) with 5 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 7 RBI and 1 walk. Saunders was placed on 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation following the game on June 11. He had appeared in 52 games with Seattle this season, batting .272 (40x147) with 6 doubles, 3 triples, 4 home runs and 25 RBI. Saunders left the game June 6 after two at-bats, and had played just one game since (June 10, 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts). In 16 games from May 16 to June 3, Saunders hit .368 (21-for-57) with 3 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, 18 RBI and a .391 on-base percentage (1.040 OPS). HART ON REHAB ASSIGNMENT: OF Corey Hart began his rehab assignment with AAA Tacoma on June 21. In 4 rehab starts with

Tacoma, he is batting .294 (5x17) with 1 double, 1 triple and 1 RBI. Hart, 32, was removed from May 18 vs. the Minnesota Twins with a strained left hamstring. He was evaluated by Mariners Medical Director Dr. Edward Khalfayan the following day in Seattle, where he was diagnosed with a grade 2 hamstring strain. In 37 games this season Hart was batting .209 (29x139) with 5 doubles, 5 home runs and 17 RBI. He missed the entire 2013 season after undergoing a pair of knee surgeries. COACHING STAFF: Roy Howell is the 29th manager in Tacoma franchise history. Howell is in his third season coaching in the Mariners

organization after two seasons as the hitting coach at Class-A Advanced High Desert. His managerial resume includes 3 seasons at short-season Eugene (2003-05), 3 seasons with San Luis of the California Collegiate League (2007-10) and one season leading the field staff for the Road Warriors of the independent Atlantic League (2011). A former first-round selection by Texas in the 1972 draft, Howell logged time in the PCL as a player with Spokane (1974) and Portland (1985), as well as three seasons as a hitting coach with Portland (2000-02). Pitching coach Jaime Navarro, who is entering his 6th season with the Mariners organization, returns to the Rainiers after spending the last 3 seasons as the Mariners bullpen coach. Cory Snyder, who spent the last 3 seasons with Jackson, will serve as hitting coach. Tom Newberg and BJ Downie each return to Tacoma as part of the training staff, while Gabe Bourland will be the team’s performance coach.

RECAP: 3B Patrick Kivlehan recorded 3 hits and DH Dario Pizzano hit his 5th home run of the season, but it wasn’t enough as Jackson fell to Tennessee 2-4 on Wednesday afternoon. Kivlehan (3x4) and RF Julio Morban (2x4, R, 2B) combined to record 5 of the team’s 7 hits. Pizzano (1x3, R, HR, 2 RBI) drove in both the Generals runs with a 2-run home run in the 5th inning. Starter Stephen Landazuri (5.0,4,0,0,2,1) allowed 4 hits in 5.0 innings, but did not factor into the decision. LH Cam Hobson (3.0,4,3,3,0,3) recorded his 6th loss of the season, allowing 3 runs in the 6th inning, while RH Stephen Shackleford (1.0,1,1,1,0,1,HR) allowed a solo home run in the top of the 9th.

Star: 2009, 2011-13; Futures Game: 2004) are each one of 115 players to have competed n both the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which is now in its 16th year, features the top Minor League prospects competing in a nine-inning contest as part of Taco Bell All-Star Sunday. The U.S. Team, which has won each of the last four contests, leads the all-time series, 9-6. The game will begin at 5:00 p.m. (ET)/4:00 p.m. (CT) and can be viewed live on MLB Network and MLB.com. Featured on MLB Network for the first time, the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game will be called by Matt Vasgersian, Sean Casey and Heidi Watney, along with MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo. Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America and the 30 Major League Clubs, selected the 25 players currently on each team.
