Bulls Bay IslandJuly 27 & 29, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Join us on a boat safari to Bulls Bay Island. This remote barrier island is

a paradise of wildlife, marshes, brackish waters and some of the most pristine, unspoiled ocean beaches on

the East Coast. Wonderful shell collecting opportunities. Cost is $20

per person. Spaces are limited; please sign-up soon.

Jet ski safariJuly 12

This is one of our most popular springexcursions. Join us as we discover the Barrier

Islands with a experienced tour guide along with a wonderfully scenic stopover on Capers Island. Trip leaves the ORC promptly at 9:15 a.m. Once we get underway, the tour is approximately 90 minutes in length along a 30-mile route. Jet ski

experience helpful, but not necessary. Cost: $179 per person. RecOn price: $30 per person. (The

RecOn price is available to active duty and their family members.) Advance reservations needed.

We have a great way for your office, group or organization to get together outdoors and just have a fun day on the river. These group trips can be with canoes, kayaks or a combination of both. The rates start at $40 per person, which

includes all equipment, transportation and qualified guides. Trips can be booked for any

day of the week. Due to the availability of equipment on a requested date, it may be

necessary to limit the size of the group. (A good reason to book as early as possible.) For more

Take a scenic one-hour walking trail ride around historic Middleton Plantation.

Encounter marsh birds, eagles, deer and maybe catch a glimpse of some napping alligators. Trip

Boat orientation classJuly 7 & 21

These one-hour orientation classes are required in order to checkout motor-driven

ORC boats. Advance class registration required. Cost is $5. Before attending class, boater must take a free on-line

boater safety course at www.boatus.org and pass with a minimum score of 80%.

Call the ORC after testing to schedule anorientation class.

July Liberty & Single Airman Initiative Programs

Tandem Skydiving - July 11. Walterboro, S.C. - Jump out of a perfectly good plane just for fun! The $100 price includes transportation, tandem sky dive instruction and jump. Bring money for dinner. Trip will depart from the Bowman Center at 8 a.m., returning around 5 p.m.

Gymnastics - July 10. Summerville. Inviting all those with little to lots of experience with gymnastics or Parkour! Come out for a private two-hour session ranging from bars, beams, foam pit, a trampoline track and more! $12. An instructor will be available if needed with no extra cost. Dinner upon returning to base will be at own cost. Trip departs the Bowman Center at 6 p.m., and returns by 10 p.m.

Crabbing 101 - June 30. $20. Learn di�erent methods of crabbing and give each a try! Instruction, bait, equipment and food included in $20 cost. Departs Bowman Center and ORC at 5 p.m., and returns around 8:30 p.m.

Jet Ski Safari- July 12. Isle of Palms. This is a 90-minute eco tour up the Inner Coastal Waterway on a Waverunner! The $30 price includes transportation, gear rental and guided tour. Trip departs from ORC at 9 a.m.

Surf Fishing - July 26. Meets at Air Base Outdoor Rec Center. $10. Fish from the shore in this RecOn program. Departs from ORC at 9 a.m., and return around 2 p.m.

Horseback Riding - July 19. Middleton Place, Charleston. $20. Trip departs ORC at 10 a.m., returning by 3 p.m.

Calling all strikers, sweepersand keepers

Soccer registration is now available at both youth centers forthe upcoming season. Depending on the age group, there arethree youth programs. The Start Smart Soccer program is for

4 year olds and the cost is $25. Soccer league play for ages 5-10 is $45. Special “SoccerShots” instruction and play for 3 year old is $45. The season starts for all soccer leagues Sept. 1. Volunteer

coaches are needed for the 5-10 year old teams. Call or stop by for more details on the program or becoming a coach.

• VA workshop for disability claimsAt this workshop, a VA rep will cover the disability claims process and provide individual assistance. • CapstoneFinal mandatory step of TAP for all active duty leaving the service within the next 90-150 days to verify and validate completion of Career Readiness Standards. Individual appointments are scheduled as necessary. Call either center to sign-up.

Children of military members attend schools in the surrounding Charleston, Dorchester II andBerkeley County School Districts.The districts provide a full range of educational programs, i.e., vocational and technical training, traditional academic programs, athletics, classes for gifted students and students with special needs. There is also a wide array of magnet,charter, virtual, and private schools optionsavailable in the area. School starts in mid-August and ends early June for most schools. All three of our local school districts were rated excellent in 2014-2015. According to state law, students must attend assigned schools within their district of residence.A complete School Information Packet can be found
