The transfer of energy from a source in plants through a series of organisms

is called the food chain and their interlinking pattern is called the food web.

MATERIALS REQUIRED

Chart boards or old cards from packaging material

Pens or coloured paints

Ball of thread (thick thread would be better)

Cut the boards into any convenient sizes and with the help of the class

prepare food chains and link them as food web. A suggested food web

is given. Once the cards are ready, make children stand in a circle, give them

the cards at random. Tie string to the index finger of the student who gets the

“sun” card…. motivate the students to give the next step and keep winding

the same thread on the index fingers of the food web… finally a web is

formed by the thread (a sample picture is attached)
