AttachmentShop Weighing Procedure SHOP WEIGHING OF REFORMER RADIANT COIL SUB-ASSEMBLIES

The following provides the sequential steps necessary to weigh the radiant coil sub-assemblies:1. Weigh the bracing to be attached to the sub-assembly for shipment, and mark the bracing with the recorded weight. 2. Determine the rigging to be used in the weigh-in process, (including shackles, spreader beams, harness, and D scale), and determine the weight of the entire weighing rig. This will determine a tare if the scale does not have a tare function, and enable a net weight of the sub-assembly to be determined. 3. Rig the assembly to be weighed. It should be lifted sufficiently above grade to allow the assembly to be adjusted, to be level and free from any contact with objects which could alter the accuracy of the weight reading. 4. Once the assembly is suspended and hanging free and level, and perfectly still, the scale reading should be read and verified by the inspector. It must also be verified that the weight reading of the sub-assembly and mark number of the sub-assembly are witnessed, verified and recorded for later use. 5. It must be recorded exactly what was weighed during the weighing process. That is, if all the flanges and bolts were included, bracing, etc. Harp assembly should only be weighed when all components are fully assembled and ready for shipment. 6. The scale to be used for the weighing must maintain a ½% accuracy of the gross weight. If it is recommended by the scale manufacturer, a periodic recalibration is needed to maintain the required degree of accuracy. The vendor will be required to do so and coordinate the calibration with the weighing of sub-assemblies. 7. Items to be weighed and individually marked are; individual riser tubes, each shipping frame and completed harp assemblies with all components installed.
