GREAT TECHNOLOGYThis theme explored how cutting edge technologies are being developed and used in Pakistan and globally. As we march into the 4th Industrial Revolution, it is imperative that we collectively not only focus on increasing our exports and earning base through ‘low tech’ initiatives such as BDOs, outsourcing and freelancing but also if not more so on ‘high tech’ technologies that have the potential to change exponentially the shape of Pakistan. Some of the leading figures in the country that are leading such initiatives through stories and case studies about their lives and their work were used to highlight this theme.

FUNDINGStartup funding in Pakistan continues to increase as more innovative startups are beginning to gain traction soon after setting up. It is great to see interest not only from individuals and groups more associated with technology but also from traditional industries as well, who realise that technology has potential to disrupt their markets and that they need to channel this innovation into their existing portfolios. However, startups and investors alike continue to struggle with reaching a combined understanding of what the investor-entrepreneur relationship should look like and how to adapt these efforts to the local conditions of Pakistan today.
