    5 Free Crystal Bead Projects

Beading Daily sCreate Jewelry with Crystals:

I am one lucky ducky; Ive neverwanted to change my name. No, noteven once. (Okay, maybe once, whenI was seven and couldnt nd a cutelittle wall plaque at the store with myname on it. They always spelled itwrong!) Thanks, Mom. That said, myli elong love or my namesake crystalshas me adding them to anythingand everything I can. I use all typeso crystals and love hanging them

rom my rearview mirror as well as rom my neck, wrists, andearlobes, which keeps me constantly surrounded by thoselovely crystal bead beauties. It also helps being one o 37worldwide Swarovski Ambassadors. Swarovski elements keep

eeding my need to create crystal bead jewelry! So, what could be better than combining our loves, crystals, stringing, and bead stitching? Nibbling chocolate whilemaking these projectsutter Utopia! Handpicked or theirvariety and glitz, these beauties are sure to please over-the-top ellow blingsters, as well as those who want just a toucho the sparkle. I nd no matter my budget or occasion, a bito bling always makes me smile, and nothing says ashion

orward better than some twinkle in your jewelry.

Crystal Edge BraceletTop-drilled bicones are un to work with and give your piecean interesting dimension! Once I started using top drilled

bicones in my jewelry creations, I was hooked! This projectwhispers in my ear, skip the laundry, who cares about thedirty dishes in the sink, make me NOW.

Bracelet with HeartThis heart- elt bracelet is per ect or any age rom tween tograndmamma, theyd all love wearing this beauti ul accessory, and the heart toggle is the icing on the cake (or bracelet in thiscase). I have a heart collection and this one wont be missing

    rom it much longer!

Romantic Ru feI love how Kelli mixed the Swarovski crystals and pearlstogether to give this bracelet an extra touch o glam. I mighttry a combination o colors (like 3 di erent blue-coloredcrystals) as a color variation on this project.

Monte MagicThis bracelet would be per ect to use up your bicone crystalstash. You could also substitute 6mm pearls or the 6mmbicones or added texture and variety. You could alsoglue on some fat back crystals onto the lobster clasp oradditional bling!

Totally Tubular / Kristal Wick Yours truly created this crystal-rich necklace eaturing myown Sassy Silkies, handcra ted silk beads and a removableclasp attaching the ocal piece to the necklace. I lled plastictubing with crystals. A walk down the plumbing aisle in yourlocal hardware store, or pet stores provide you with thissimple tubing.Be sure to make two o each project, one or yoursel and one

or your BFF. You know shell take these bracelets right o your

wrist! I hate to bling and run, but I simply must dive into theseprojects, I hope you do, too. Enjoy!

Cecilia is inspired every time she gazes at all the colors, shapes, and sizes of Swarovski crystals available at

her bead store. She loves the way the top-drilled biconecrystals give this bracelet an edgy look with sparkling

    sophistication, despite its somber hues.

Kelli discovered that working rounds of increasingly larger beads in right-angle weave formed

a delightfully wavy edge on thebeadwork without altering the stitchs basicthread path. She added a row of pearls down thecenter and pinched in the sides with small stitches, giving the bracelet the appearance of a pea pod.

Square StitchBegin bys t r i n g i n ga row of beads. Forthe secondrow, string 2 beads, pass through thesecond-to-last bead of the first row,and through the second bead juststrung. Continue by stringing 1 bead, passing through the third-to-last beadof the first row, and through thebead just strung. Repeat this loopingtechnique to the end of the row.

Right-Angle Weave (Single Needle)String 4 beads and pass through them again toform the first unit. For the rest of the row, string3 beads, pass through the last bead passed throughin the previous unit, and the first 2 just strung; thethread path will resemble a figure-eight, alternatingdirections with each unit. To begin the next row, passthrough the last 3 beads strung to exit the side of the last unit. String 3 beads, pass through the lastbead passed through, and the first bead just strung.*String 2 beads, pass through the next edge bead of the previous row, the last bead passed through in the previous unit, and the last2 beads just strung. Pass through the next edge bead of the previous row, string 2beads, pass through the last bead of the previous unit, the edge bead just passedthrough, and the first bead just strung. Repeat from * to complete the row, thenbegin a new row as before.

Right-Angle Weave(Double Needle)Using one needle on each end of thethread, string 3 beads to the center of the thread.*Use one needle to string 1bead, then pass the other needle backthrough it. String 1 bead on each needle, then repeat from * to form a chain of right-angle units (A).To turn at the end of the row, use theleft needle to string 3 beads, then crossthe right needle back through the last

bead strung (B). Use the right needle tostring 3 beads, then cross the left needleback through the last bead strung (C). Tocontinue the row, use the right needleto string 2 beads; pass the left needlethrough the next bead on the previousrow and back through the last beadstrung (D).

    Flat Peyote Stitch

One-drop peyote stitch begins bystringing an even number of beads tocreate the first two rows. Begin thethird row by stringing 1 bead and pass-ing through the second-to-last bead of the previous rows. String another beadand pass through the fourth-to-lastbead of the previous rows. Continueadding 1 bead at a time, passing overevery other bead of the previous rows.

Two-drop peyote stitch is worked thesame as above, but with 2 beads at atime instead of 1.

StringingStringing is a technique in which youuse beading wire, needle and thread,or other material to gather beads intoa strand.

WireworkingTo make a simple loop , grasp one end of the wire with round-nose pliers.

Holding on to the wire with one hand, gently turn the pliers until the wireend and wire body touch. Create a 90 reverse bend where they meet. For a wire-wrapped loop , cut the desired lengthof wire and make a 90 bend 2" from one end.Use round-nose pliers to hold the wire near theangle and bend the short end up and aroundthe pliers until it meets itself. Wrap the wiretightly down the neck of the wire to create acouple of coils. Trim the excess to finish.
