After all, don’t you and I often get out of step with God, heading off in our own direction? Ash Wednesday, February 18, begins a 40 day season called Lent, a time of reflecting on Jesus’ love, suffering, and sacrifice for each of us. These 4o days offer an “on-ramp” for those of us that have wandered in body, mind or spirit to be welcomed back by our Good Shepherd who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Where the temptation can be to reduce Lent to gestures like giving up chocolate, I commend the 400 of you that have signed up to participate in the new small groups. What a wonderful way to grow in Christ and to grow in community with one an- other. Let’s all pray for each of these groups. If you have not signed up for a small group, other opportunities for intentional commitment include participating in the February 18, Ash Wednesday service at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary, receiving the daily devotionals written by Eastminster members, making time to serve through an Eastminster mission endeavor, giving a special financial gift or, planning now to attend the March 14-15 Celebration of Faith. You don’t need to do it all, but I do hope you will stop and reflect on how it is God is calling you to follow him this Lent. In Christ, Brad Please let us know! Again this past week we learned of a pastoral concern several days after the fact. If you are aware of a circumstance warranting pastoral care, whether your own or that of someone else in the church family, please let us know by con- tacting Mary Baldauf or the Rev. Lynn Grandsire. SHARING HIS LIGHT1 COR. 12

    Dear Eastminster Family,

While keeping track of the liturgical calendar, complete with refer-ences to days like Transfiguration Sunday, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and the like can be confusing or even distracting, the calen-dar can also serve as an external prompt to help us get back in rhythm with our Creator and Lord.

After all, dont you and I often get out of step with God, heading off in our own direction? Ash Wednesday, February 18, begins a 40 day season called Lent, a time of reflecting on Jesus love, suffering, and sacrifice for each of us. with their 4th grade lunch buddies at Bradley Elementary, two Tuesdays per month from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., followed by work on reading skills. The kids read to their Lunch Buddies and then take Accelerated Reader tests on school computers. The Lunch Buddies will tell you it is a rewarding experience. our challenge: there are 55 kids, so most Lunch Buddies have two kids to assist in their reading exercises. our goal: get to a one-to-one ratio so that each child gets the full attention of a Lunch Buddy.
