This will confirm our telephone conversation of this afternoon that it is your belief future donors of art objects will not be concerned if the gift of Peggy Guggenheim is sold.
I was glad to know from our conversation that in future gifts of art objects, you plan to have a protective clause insofar as it is possible to do so to cover this point.
After you have negotiated the sale of the picture in question, as I have pointed out, it will be necessary for you to have a formal authorization for sale from the Finance Committee of the Board of Regents but we can ask for this only when we know the terms of the sale.
