Dear Alumni, Colleagues, Friends and Supporters,

We would like to wish you a warm welcome to our Blue and Gold Dinner and Dance 2015. Iwould also want to acknowledge the presence of the UERM AFUSA who is joining us tonight. The UERMMMC Alumni Association MARVADC Chapter is celebrating its 25 thanniversary

this year. Our chapter has history of trailblazing leadership not only in the national alumniorganization but also in its involvement in our Alma Mater. My administration hopes to live upto this tradition.

Since 2005, the MARVADC chapter has championed the Young Alumni Development Program,a program which mentors young Philippine medical graduates in their transition to the Americanhealthcare system. In its 10

thyear, the program espouses a culture of guidance and advice for the

young and recognition of the collective wisdom of the generations of UERM graduates whoforged the path before them. This program has reinvigorated our alumni organization bystrengthening the bonds that connects all of us across time: our honor and love for the practice of

medicine and the alma mater that made it possible

Part of the funds raised during this event will be used to fund the YADP. While part of the fundswill also be appropriated to two new projects: the MARVADC Scholarship Fund and theMARVADC Basic Science Faculty Development Fund

Thank you for coming and lets leap into spring with a great night of dancing and camaraderie!

    Warm Regards,

    Nathalie Bernabe Quion MD MPH

    MESSAGE

We at the UERMMMC-MAAAI and as President for the year 2014-2016 saluteand congratulate MARVA-DC UERMMMC-MAAAI chapter, its president, officers and

members for taking extra-mile to raise funds for the Young Alumni Development

    Program---YADP.

As graduates of UERMMMC, we have shared goal and aspirations to succeed in

our given profession. Given the difficulties presently facing us, however uncomfortable itmakes us feel to organize, all of us in this modern society would depend on one another

for economic survival. It is indeed a struggle as foreign medical graduates to break into

the medical community abroad. Let us then assuage and extend assistance to our young

alumni to make this transition period, if you will, less painful and traumatic, for them to

continue their post-doctoral training to prefer them in the future.

Thank you MARVA-DC for your robust program to help these young alumnipursue their dreams and aspirations to further their medical profession.

Paul L. Hamor, Jr., MD '70UERMMMC-MAAAI President 2014-2016

UERM M RV DC Young lumni Development Program

The UERM Young Alumni Development Program (YADP) is a project of the UERMMMC Alumni

Association in America Maryland Virginia Washington DC Chapter. It started in 2005, when it mentored 4

recent graduates from UERM and has since then supported over 100 Philippine medical graduates. They

have landed in training programs in Dartmouth, Harvard, U of California, U of Connecticut, VCU etc. Theprogram bridges the gap in Philippine and American medical training. This is done through the Young

Alumni Mentorship that partners applicants with senior and junior mentors, provides technical guidance,

clinical experiences, opportunities for networking and mock interviews. UERM YADP also sponsors the

Young Alumni Travel Grant (YATG), a competitive grant that allows UERM graduates opportunities to

present their research at the annual alumni convention and reunion.

The committee is comprised of senior academicians and clinicians and a growing pool of young mentors.

These young mentors are successful participants of the program who themselves create a support network

for the incoming recent medical graduates.

    THE STAR-SPANGLED BANNER

O say, can you see by the dawn's early light,What so proudly we hail'd

    At the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars,Thro' the perilous fight,O'er the ramparts we watch'd,Were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare,The bombs bursting in air,Gave proof thro' the night

That our flag was still there.

O say, does that Star-Spangled Banner yet waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

    LUPANG HINIRANG

    Lupa ng araw, ng luwalhati't pagsinta,Buhay ay langit sa piling mo;

Aming ligaya na pag may mang-aapiAng mamatay nang dahil sa iyo.
