Elements and Performance Criteria

Element 1 Read and interpret working drawings and prepare cutting list.

Performance criteria

1.1. Cutting list is accurately drawn up in accordance with working drawing specifications.

1.2. All work is completed within allocated time frame.

Element 2 Prepare work area and select, use and maintain tools,

equipment and materials.

Performance criteria

2.1. Work area is prepared.

2.2. Materials are selected and cut in accordance with working drawing specifications.

2.3. Tools and equipment are functional in accordance with job requirements

2.4. All work is completed within allocated time frame

2.5. Health and safety regulations are adhered to at all times

Element 3 Set out stair dimensions and prepare templates

Range Members include but are not limited to balustrade, risers and treads.

Performance criteria

3.1. Risers and treads are set out in accordance with given dimensions.

3.2. Template is cut to specifications of the working drawing specifications.

3.3. All work is completed within allocated time frame

3.4. Health and safety regulations are adhered to at all times

Element 4 Construct timber stairs. Performance criteria

4.1. Stair members are set out and assembled in accordance with working drawing specifications.

4.2. Framing and landing are constructed in accordance with working drawing specifications.

4.3. Stairs are trimmed and installed in accordance with working drawings specifications.

4.4. Balustrade and hand rails are installed in accordance with working drawing specifications.

4.5. All work is completed within allocated time frame.

4.6. Health and safety regulations are adhered to all times.

Element 5 Construct timber ramps Performance criteria

5.1. Ramp requirements are identified from working drawings and specifications.

5.2. Footings and foundations are constructed in accordance with working drawing specifications.

5.3. Timber ramps are constructed in accordance with working drawings specifications.

5.4. All work is completed within allocated time frame.

5.5. Health and safety regulations are adhered to all times.

Element 6 Apply floor coverings Range (i) Floor coverings include buta re not limited to tongue and groove

boards, ply boards and block board. (ii) Tools used include but are not limited to claw hammer, warington hammer, measuring tape and nail puncher.

Performance criteria

6.1. Covering materials are identified and cut to size in accordance with working drawing specifications

6.2. Floor covering is applied in line with best practice principles.

6.3. All work is completed within allocated time frame.

6.4. Health and safety regulations are adhered to at all times.
