Keyword: Herbal shampoo, herbal conditioner, Foam volume, stability

The goal of this project is to formulate herbal shampoo and conditioner

individually containing aloe Vera, bitter cucumber, butterfly pea, and leech lime extracts

by varying the contents of ingredients especially surfactants. The physical properties of

shampoo base were evaluated for foam volume, wetting time, and stability, but

conditioner base were evaluated only for its stability. The appropriate formulas were

selected, mixed with herbal extract and determined for their physical and biological

properties. The physical properties such as color, smell, viscosity, foam volume,

comfortably washing, softness and shine feels on hair were the criteria for evaluation

(score 1-5 represent hate, poor, moderate, like, the most like, respectively). The results

showed that the herbal extract was compatible with shampoo and conditioner base. For

the evaluation of satisfaction, the data significantly indicated that the volunteer preferred

the herbal shampoo and conditioner more than only base formulas. For shampoo and

conditioner with aloe Vera extract, the satisfaction values for the concentration of 2%,

6%, 10% were 2.9167, 3.3500, 3.2000, respectively compared to the only base formula

with the satisfaction value of 1.1700. Likewise the satisfaction values for the

concentration of 2%, 6%, 10% were 3.0833, 3.0000, and 3.1364, respectively for bitter

cucumber shampoo and conditioner. For leech lime shampoo and conditioner and

butterfly pea shampoo and conditioner at the same ranges of concentrations were

2.9630, 2.9474, and 2.9524, and 2.9615, 3.1923, and 3.3043, respectively. This data

Page 6: 01)2.3).45/&14)6784!4 $0 9! #:(4);&

clearly showed that the satisfaction values were not affected by the concentration tested

for each herbal extract.
