Judging criteriaThe Business Leadership Award rewards thesuccessul implementation o innovative, cost-eective and transerable energy-efciencymeasures (see below or defnitions).

Successful: Success is determined by the reacho the program (i.e., it reaches a signifcantnumber o clients, demonstrating that theinitiative has gone beyond the pilot stage) andthe overall reductions in energy consumptionachieved by the initiative.

Innovative: The program may build on pastsuccesses, but should demonstrated a novelapproach or element. Judging will consider thedegree o innovation.

Deep reductions: The program achievesreductions at a reasonable price, with therecognition that deeper reductions in energyconsumption may cost more per unit oenergy saved (compared to cream-skimmingmeasures that have a very ast payback timebut dont necessarily achieve large reductionsin overall energy use, such as changes tolighting systems).

New and exciting: Projects should make useo design, materials, methods, technologies, approaches or intervention packages that arein some way novel. In spite o a strong business

case, energy efciency has long suered roma perception o being boring and unsexy, resulting in relatively low levels o activity;hence, the Innovation Award will recognize thecontribution o new ways o promoting energyefciency (e.g., through social media) to thegeneral public that increase public awarenessand interest.
