BACKGROUND INFORMATIONParking lot usage is evaluated every 6

months. If the lot at a station is full, then the daily parking fee may increase by 50¢. If the lot is less than 95% full, then the fee may decrease by 50¢. All revenue raised from these new fees will go to programs for improved station access, rehabilitation and modernization.

Thanks to State Proposition 1B and the City of San Francisco, BART has received $12 million to make improvements to escalators and entrances at some of our downtown San Francisco stations. BART has identi� ed two escalators at Powell Street Station and one escalator at Civic Center/UN Plaza Station that are most

in need of improvements. BART held an open house Dec. 16 and 18 to get public input on the project.

Once planning is complete in Fall 2015, construction will begin mid-2016 to replace these escalators and construct a protective cover or canopy over them.
