11

Mai came into Synergy Global with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, & ability

to multitask. Her focus was time/task management, flexibility with changing priorities,

& having a tendency to push back on tasks/processes/feedback she didn’t agree with

(the latter not being all bad!).

Over 5 months, the Effectiveness Interns Team (EIT) has supported Mai in addressing

these development areas – along with Heather-Jane’s mentorship & coaching – to give

her the tools to change/improve on these identified behaviours. She became adept

at adding value to the team by learning to use her creativity for Continuous Quality

Improvement (CQI) in an encouraging manner. Particularly, she contributed to the

development of our Marketing Plan, researching information for various awards, as well

as helping other new interns.

Furthermore, she improved her time/task management skills by working hard at

keeping up with emphasis on project completion — simulating all corporate work

places — as well as learning how to effectively prioritise tasks. Specifically, she was

assigned different tasks relating to clients, marketing & her own projects, all of which

needed flexibility from Mai in order to meet deadlines. On top of her behavioural

development & work-related experience, Mai was able to develop good leadership

& delegation skills, using our unique cascade learning method, to guide new interns

through their Recruitment & Orientation, plus mentor them through new tasks/

projects. During her internship she also learned to re-negotiate tasks as well as taking/

giving constructive feedback positively. Overall, she achieved her goals to improve her

capability & was invited to extend her internship after completion.
