Pulling the firing strapopens the zipper giving access to the hood, auto-matically starting the air supply, in one simple actionthe set is already delivering breathing air to the hoodwhen it is donned.S-Cap-Air, the Emergency Escape Breathing Device iscertified to EN 1146 for a duration of up to 15 minutes.It meets the International Maritime Organisation[IMO] SOLAS resolution MSC. 99C [73] making EEBDsmandatory on all vessels.

    S-Cap-Air is the Short Duration Compressed AirEmergency Escape Breathing Device [EEBD] from MSA,providing respiratory protection in toxic and oxygendeficient atmospheres. S-Cap-Air offers a duration of 15 minutes for a safe escape.Designed for use on board of ships, in chemical indus-tries, off-shore oil rigs, refineries, water utilities andconfined spaces, the S-Cap-Air is light and compactand very easy to use. It can either be carried by theuser or kept in readiness close to the workplace forimmediate access in case of emergency.The S-Cap-Air is supplied in a fluorescent protectivecarrying bag ensuring high visibility and protectionfrom the environment. It consists of a 3 litre 200 barcompressed air cylinder with automatic air supplyvalve and pressure indicator, a high visibility hoodwith oro-nasal face mask, large visor and elastic neckseal, and a well visible pneumatic end-of-service timeindicator turning red before the cylinder pressure isexhausted.
