Romona School (Grades K–3)

Wilmette Junior High School (Grades 4–7)

Take a leisurely walk with your child through the pages of this course brochure to plan an exciting summer of fun and learning. Build a schedule that meets your child’s personal interests and your fam-ily’s summer schedule. Students may enroll in one, two, or three classes daily. Shuttle bus service is available between each class period and as a link-up service with the village-wide Park District Pro-grams.Please consider the following as you plan your

Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) schedule of

classes:

• Don’t forget to register early. Classes will be cancelled if we don’t meet the required minimum enrollment.

• Each class is 50 minutes long • Classes begin at 8:30 a.m. at Romona School

(Grades K–3) • Classes begin at 8:40 A.M. at Wilmette Junior High

School (Grades 4–7) • Students are eligible to enroll in District 39 SEP

classes if they have completed any grade Kindergarten through 7th.

• Online registration opens February 4, 2019. Regis-tration closes March 18, 2019.

• Late registrations will be accepted between March 19, 2019 and May 3, 2019. A $9 late registration fee per class will be charged.

•Confirmationletterswithclassassignmentsandbus information will be sent approximately two weeks before classes start.

• If space is available after the session has be-gun, late registrations will be accepted on June 20, 2019 and June 21, 2019 at each school site. A $9 late registration fee per class will be charged.

• Tuition and fees are fully refundable for

medical reasons or because of course

cancellations. In addition, a fifty percent refund of tuition and fees will be given for withdrawals before March 6, 2019. No refunds will be given after March 7, 2019. This practice is strictly enforced to allow completion of the Summer Enrichment Program hiring, and class supply purchasing. Your understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated.

• Classes will not be held on Thursday, July 4.• Students should register for classes for the

grade they will complete in June 2019.

General Information

Payment

Payment will be processed through RevTrak, the same company District 39 uses for payments throughout the school year. A $5 fee will be as-sessed for a course change requested by a parent after registration has been processed.

Emergency Information

The Emergency Information section on the form must be completed to register.

Shuttle Bus Transportation

Bus service to Romona School and Wilmette Junior High School within District 39 boundaries will be providedtochildrenfora$140fee,ifsufficientrequests are received. The schedule and routes will be announced prior to the opening of school. Please complete the transportation portion of your registration form to apply. No additional stops will be added to the bus routes after May 3, 2019. Children registering after this date will be accom-modated on existing routes.

Avoca District 37 Transportation

Avoca School District will provide bus transportation to Romona School and Wilmette Junior High School for District 37 students. Bus transportation from a route within the District 37 boundaries to the Summer Enrichment Program sites before and after each period will be available for a $140 transportation fee. Please contact District 37 at 847-251-3138 to apply for transportation.

Park District Program Link-Ups

Bus service from Romona School and Wilmette Junior High School to Wilmette Park District camp locations will be available after third period classes. This service is included in the $140 transportation fee and will be provided at the end of the SEP day (11:20 a.m. for Romona and 11:30 a.m. for Wilmette Junior High School).

Students will be exploring the wonderful and creative worlds of Marvel and DC comic books and cartoons. We will work on creating our own superheroes and comic books, as wellasmakingsomeshortfilmswritten,directed by, and starring students.

Around the World in 24 Days Grades 2–3 Period 1 #1–ATW Includes $25 material fee $195 20 studentsYour child will have the opportunity to learn about 5 countries on 5 continents without leaving Wilmette. Each week, students will study a different country. Their studies will teach them about the country’s geography, history, culture, language, food, and famous natives.

The Art of Zen Grades K-1 Period 3 #3-AZ Grades 2-3 Period 1 #1-AZ Includes $25 material fee $200 15 studentsStudents will practice strategies to improve their strength through yoga. Learn meditation, stories, write about gratitude and explore ways in which art can reduce stress and improve creativity and calm!

Automated Author Grades 2–3 Period 2 #2–AA Includes $10 material fee $185 15 studentsWrite and illustrate your own creations using the computer! Learn how to use a Mac to create slide shows, write autobi-ographies, expository paragraphs, poetry, and more. Use iPads for other exciting automated writing. Share your creations with classmates and family!

B.A.S.I.C. — Math(Basic Academic Skills Improvement Course) Grades 2–3 Period 1 #1–MA Grades 2–3 Period 2 #2–MA Grades 1 Period 3 #3–MA Includes $25 material fee $100B.A.S.I.C. Math reviews and reinforces skills of computation, estimation, problem-solving, and application. A variety of hands-on activities, games, and fun experiences are used. Student-to-teacher ratio is low to facilitate individual and small group instruction. This course is available to District 39 residents only. Students taking this course must meet the criteria based on winter universal screenings. It is highly recommended that students meeting the criteria register for this class. [When comparing Fall Performance Series testing of students that participated in the summer B.A.S.I.C. classes against those students that were recommended for the class but did not attend, students taking the B.A.S.I.C. class showed more growth than those that did not.] Parents ofeligiblestudentswillbenotifiedbyletter.

Dates

The 2019 Summer Enrichment Program will be held on weekday morningsforfiveweeks,beginning Wednesday, June 19, 2019 and ending Tuesday, July 23, 2019. School will not be in session on Thursday, July 4, 2019.

Location

This year’s program will be held at two campuses. Grades K–3 will be conducted at Romona School, 900 Romona Road and Grades 4–7 will be conducted at Wilmette Junior High School, 620 Locust Road.

Enrollment

Children who have completed any grade, Kindergarten through 7, may attend the Summer Enrichment Program. Students need not be residents of Wilmette District 39, except as noted. Students should register for the grade they will complete in June, 2019.

Schedule

Children may register for one, two, or three classes. All classes are 50 minutes long, with few exceptions.

Romona will be open from 8:20 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Wilmette Junior High will be open from 8:35 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.

The periods are as follows:

Romona (K–3) Period 1 8:30 – 9:20 a.m. Period 2 9:30 – 10:20 a.m. Period 3 10:30 – 11:20 a.m.

Wilmette Junior High School (4–7) Period 1 8:40 – 9:30 A.M. Period 2 9:40 – 10:30 A.M. Period 3 10:40 – 11:30 A.M.

Select the Summer Enrichment Button

Click on the Summer Enrichment Button located on the Home Page.

Select the class for which you wish to register.

Select “Click Here to Register” to proceed with the registration process.

Visit the Wilmette Public Schools Web Store to REGISTER ONLINE!

If you have not already logged into or created a RevTrak account, you will be prompted to do so now using your Email Address and Password.

Select the exact participant you wish to register for the selected class. You may also select “A New Person” if they are not currently listed in your account.

*NOTE: The selected participant MUST be the name of the person attending the class.

Answer ALL required questions before clicking the Add to Shopping Cart or Continue Shopping buttons at the bottom of the page.

Within the Checkout screen, you can verify your billing address and Select a Payment Option, prior to hitting “Place Order”.

When you click “Place Order”, your payment will be processed and a Receipt will appear. Your receipt will also be emailed to the address on file.

Wilmette Public Schools Create-Reset Password Guide

If you do not have an account password with your school’s Web Store, or if you forgot your password, follow these steps to create or reset your RevTrak account password:

Create or Reset your Password by visiting: https://Wilmette.RevTrak.net

After opening your school’s Web Store, you will see a login box in the upper right of the screen

*NOTE: If the login box does not appear, click “LOGIN” from the top menu bar.

Click the “Forgot password?” link.

You will be required to enter the email address that was used when your account was created, and click “Send”.

An email will be sent to you with a link.

Click on the link in the email, and follow the prompts to create/reset your password.

Coordinating with the D39 Summer Enrichment Program

If your child will be in the Wilmette School District 39 Summer Enrichment Program at Romona School in the mornings between June 19 andJuly 23, he/she can still

spend the afternoons at a Wilmette Park District camp! Only the following camps are available to Summer Enrichment students:

• AFTERNOON ADVENTURES*

• JUNIOR DAY

• GREAT GILLSON

• SPORTS CAMP

• ARTS IN THE PARKS

* Afternoon Adventures Camp meets at Romona School; it is also available as a full-day camp option after July 23.

Transportation from District 39 Summer Enrichment Programs

Limited bus service is offered for children who will be attending Afternoon Adventure, Junior Day, Great Gillson, Sports, or Arts in the Park camp after participating in District 39’s Summer Enrichment program.

NOTE: Regardless of the time the students leave the Summer Enrichment programs they will only be bused by North Shore Transit (contracted by District 39) to their camps at 11:30 a.m. or after Third Period classes. If your camper attends the First or Second Period of Summer Enrichment you will be responsible for transporting your camper to camp. For more information contact District 39 Transportation Liaison, Michelle McGregor, at 847-512-6024. If your camper is attending Summer Enrichment through the Third Period you are eligible for a 10% discount on the camps listed above, excluding Afternoon Adventure Camp. Please contact the appropriate camp supervisors for the discounted camp fee.
