General

1.1

Project Description

This design-bu ild-operation & m aintenance (D BO M ) w orks contract under JIC A assisted

Rajasthan Rural w ater supply & Fluorosis M itigation Project (N agaur) com prises of

providing, laying, jointing, testing & com m issioning of 250 m m to

1500 m m D I/M S pipeline, construction of C W R, pu m p house. Providing, Erection,

com m issioning of EM I w ork at 8 pum ping stations at Jayal-1,Jayal-2,Kerap,Kharw aliya

(Toshina),Budsu, D eedw ana, Bam na Kallan and Bajiyasar(Kitalsar) villages. A Brief

description of aforesaid w orks are m entioned below

(1) C lear W ater Reservoir (C W R)

The RCC reservoir shall be designed & constructed for having an effective storage capacity as

m entioned in table below .

w hich includes landscaping, providing interior roads, piping and infrastructure for

potable w ater, electrification of cam pus area, providing drainage system , developm ent

of gardens, plantation of trees etc. in the specified area.It shall also include co nstruction

of boundary w alls, parking areas.

(7) C rossingsRailw ay/ N ational highw ay crossings w ill be executed by trenchless m ethod. This includes

pushing of M S casing pipe / Box culvert by hydraulic jacking & sm ooth controlled pu shing

2.1

Project Site Location

2.2

Site Topography

The project site is barren land w ith som e built up locations. The soil strata is m ostly sandy.

2.3

Site Office, Construction & Laydown Area

A ll the Tem porary facilitates required for execution of scope of w orks shall be considered by the

sub-contractor, and shall be m entioned separately.

Climatic Data

3.1

General

The clim ate in Jayal and D idw ana is desert clim ate, during the year, there is virtually no rainfall. The

average annual tem perature is 25.7 C in Jayal. Precipitation here averages 347 m m w hereas the

average annual tem perature in D idw ana is 25.6 C and the average annual rainfall is 210 m m .

3.2

Basic Design Data

The plant shall be designed, constructed and installed taking into account of site am bient and localconditions. The C ontractor shall give due allow ance to the design of plant process tanks and filtersfor the am bient tem perature and direct sunlight to be encountered.

Environmental Protection Requirements

General

The contractor shall take all the precautions for safeguarding the environm ent during the course ofthe construction of the w orks. H e shall abide by all law s, rules and regulations in force governingpollution & environm ental protection that are applicable in an area w here the w orks are situated.

A.

Air Pollution Control

The C ontractor shall take all reasonable steps to m inim ize dust nuisance during theconstruction of the w orks. A ll existing highw ays and roads used by vehicle of the C ontractoror any of his sub-contractors or suppliers of m aterials or plant, and sim ilarly any new roadsw hich are part of the w orks and w hich are being used by traffic, shall be kept clean and clear

of all dust/m ud or other extraneous m aterials dropped by the said vehicles or their tyres.Sim ilarly, the C ontractor shall im m ediately clear all dust/m ud or other extraneous m aterialsfrom the w orks spreading on these highw ays.

B.

Control of Soil Erosion, Sedimentation & Water Pollution

The contractor shall carry out the w orks in such a m anner that soil erosion is fully controlledand sedim entation & pollution of natural w ater courses, ponds, tanks & reservoirs areavoided. The stipulations in clause 306 of M O RTH specifications shall govern.

C.

Pollution from Hot Mix Plants & Batching Plants

Bitum inous hot-m ix plants and concrete batching plants shall be located sufficiently aw ayfrom habitation, agricultural operations or industrial establishm ents. The C ontractor w ill takeevery precaution to reduce the levels of noise, vibration, dust and em issions from his plantand w ill be responsible for any claim s for dam ages caused to the ow ners of property, fieldsand residences in the vicinity.

D.

Burrow Pits for Embankment Construction

Burrow pits m ust be selected considering the position of pipe to be laid and the likely excessearth left after laying of pipe line. If pipe is laid below ground the m axim um possible earthm ust be excavated from the trench section of pipe. Borrow pits shall not be dug in the right-of-w ay of the road. The stipulations in C lause 305.2.2 o f M O RTH shall go vern. A fterexcavations, the borrow pits sides m ust be so dressed to form stable slopes. Excavated trenchm ust be linked w ith proper grade to ensure that they dont cause im pounding and therunoffis easily passed in the nearby drain.

E.

Quarry Operations

The C ontractor shall obtain m aterials from quarries only after the consent of the forestdepartm ent or other concerned authorities is obtained. The quarry operations shall beundertaken w ithin the purview of rules & regulations in force.

F.

Substances hazardous to Health

The C ontractor shall not use or generate any m aterials in the w orks, w hich are hazardous tothe health of persons, anim als or vegetation. W here it is necessary to use som e substances,w hich can cause injury to the health of w orkers, the C ontractor shall provide protectiveclothing or appliances to his w orkers

G.

Use of Nuclear Guages

N uclear gauges shall be used only w here perm itted by the Engineer-in-C harge.The C ontractorshall provide the Engineer-in-C harge w ith a copy of the regulations governing the safe use ofnuclear gauges he intends to em ploy and shall abide by such regulations.

Occupational Health and Safety during Construction

The C ontractor shall provide details of their existing O ccupational H ealth and Safetym anagem ent system and evidence of their O H S track record on sim ilar projects.

The contractor shall provide Environm ental, H ealth & Safety m anual for approval.

The C ontractor shall ensure that safety processes are put in place to prom ote a safeenvironm ent and structural elem ents of the project shall be designed, constructed andoperated to m eet good international industry practice.

Measuring Units

The international SI-system of m easures and w eights shall exclusively be used for docum ents,

correspondence, draw ings, instrum ent scales, on w orkstation, printouts, etc.

7 Codes & Standards

A ll designs shall be based on the latest Indian Standard (I.S.) Sp ecifications or C odes of

Practice unless otherw ise specified. The design standards adopted shall follow the best

m odern engineering practice in the field based on any other International Standard or

Specialist Literature subject to such standard reference or extract of such literature in the

English language being supplied to and approved by the Engineer-in-charge. In case of any

variation or contradiction betw een the provisions of the I.S. Standards or C odes and the

specifications given along w ith the subm itted tender docum ent, the provision given in this

9 Scope of works

9.11 Land Finishes

Follow ing land finishes are included in the scope:

b) C om pacted ground: the rest of the surface area, m ainly areas around tanks, and other non-

specified areas.

9.12

Furniture & Appliance

Furniture as required for proper functioning of offices, control room s & hum an resources.

9.13 Green landscaping & Horticulture

H orticulture and Land scaping shall be done according to the topography of the area and should be

planned so as to m ake the cam pus a focal point. The open areas m ust either be covered by tree

plantation or m ust be suitably grassed. Shadow trees m ust be planted at a m axim um distance of 30

H orticulture operations shall be started on ground previously levelled and dressed to require

form ation levels and slopes. In case w here unsuitable soil is m et w ith, it shall be either rem oved or

replaced or it shall be covered over to a thickness decided by Engineer-in-charge w ith good earth

m aterials.

9.14

Rainwater Harvesting

The C ontractor shall construct a com plete Rain W ater H arvesting (RW H ) system at each Pum ping

station locations at Jayal 1, Jayal 2, Kerap, Kharw aliya (Toshina), Budsu, D eedw ana, Bam na Kallan

and Bajiasar (Kitalsar). System w ill consist of follow ing units:-

a)

D esilting / Filter Pit:-

Excavated pit constructed w ith RC C C ham ber and filled w ith stone/brick/ filter m edia for

w ater filtration shall be provided.

a)

C ollection Tank:-

For storage of rain w ater a 50000 litres capacity RCC storage tank in M 25 design m ix shall

be provided.

b) Recharge Tank:-

To collect the initial rain from roof and overflow rain w ater from collection tank, a recharge

tank shall be constructed. This tank shall be constructed in a size of 1.50 X 1.50 X 5.00 m tr

w ith M 25 grade RC C floor, w all and roof covering. Provisions of vent pipes, one opening

covered w ith m anhole cover shall be m ade. Facilities for by-passing of initial rain w ater from

roof and overflow from collection tank shall be provided. The C ontractor shall also design and

provide required facilities for the use of harvested w ater.

The w ork shall include all other civil w orks not specified above but required to com plete the

w ork of civil w orks at all head w orks as on turnkey basis to achieve the intended objectives in

safe, secure, reliable m anner adopting best engineering practices.

Other Terms & Conditions

The follow ing shall be considered:

Validity of the price shall be 150 days;

b) D efect Liability period shall be one year;

The unit item rates shall be in Indian C urrency (IN R)
