NASA and Rollins Connect
– KSC discussed approaching a local business school after seeing presentation at FLC Annual Meeting
– Contacted Rollins College President – Met with Executive Director of the Center for
Advanced Entrepreneurship and discussed a NASA commercialization planning program
– Space Act Agreement to proceed with program in the 2012 fall semester
– Worked with mentor professor and a NASA patented technology from the KSC portfolio

Space Act Agreement
• NASA– Provide information on patented technologies– Brief students and professors on technologies– Answer follow-up questions throughout the term
• Rollins College– Professor will choose one technology per term– Students and professor will meet with innovator– Students will research markets and develop
commercialization plan– Present the final plan to NASA at end of term

The Technology
• Inductive Linear Non-contact Position Sensor– Originally developed to monitor precise movements
of Orbiter windows inspection system– High accuracy and resolution of positions for motion
control applications– Small, inexpensive and provides absolute position– Can measure position down to 400 nanometers
over a total range of 200 microns

The Technology
• KSC Commercialization Efforts– Assessment for commercial potential positive– Positive feedback from industry experts (sensor
manufacturers)– Filed non-provisional patent and marketed
technology to industry– Pursued license with a sensor manufacturer
identified in KSC’s commercial assessment over the course of one year
– Due to changes in budget company dropped interest
– Considered a good candidate for the Rollins program.

The Rollins Team
• Four Rollins MBA Students– Business experience and real-world engineering
know-how– Knowledge of robotics and manufacturing– Market research reveals opportunities in many
fields• Medical robotics • 3D Printers• Missile guidance • Military applications
– Worked with NASA innovator to enhance capabilities of sensor (3D applications)
– Decided to form Juntura Group and apply for a license
– Developed prototype packages for potential manufacturers

Juntura Group
– Company name derived from Spanish word that means “juncture”
– Incorporated in 2012 with headquarters in Winter Park, FL
– Currently developing three variations of non-contact position sensors for its product line
– Company already has made a commercial sale of its product• Florida Institute of Technology is incorporating the
sensor into a 3D bioplotter that prints human tissue
