+Meal Equivalency 101
Definition of Meal Equivalency:
A meal equivalency allows a meal plan owner to use their meal swipe
at a location that is not at the Marketplace, the resident dining
hall. The items can vary from each location and each location has
specific hours when the swipes can be accepted. This meal
equivalency is not intended to take the place of many offerings
provided at the Marketplace. Instead the intention is to provide
meal access while attending classes across campus, busy schedules and
extended meal hours.

+The Chaos of September
As September arrives and a new semester begins the freshman and new to campus students begin to make UMD
home.
Our experience shows that the first couple of weeks result in lines at the dining venues because everyone wants to
eat together to begin their socialization process.
We ask that you encourage students to eat at different times to avoid the lines. This most often happens at
dinner.
We are open for dinner from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm which allows sufficient time for all to enjoy a relaxing meal.
+RA-DINING SERVICE PARTNERSHIP Together the administration, the faculty, the campus
staff, the RA’s and the dining staff provide the guidance and support for the students on campus. For many, this is the first time away from home.
We are the support TEAM. As such, we want to work together to every degree possible to bring forth a united front in solving problems and accommodating students.
Let’s go TEAM UMD!
