Maps: Saturday 12.03.16 Requirements I will have several photocopies of maps particularly of Ugbrooke House and its grounds if you simply want to learn the process so don’t worry too much. Otherwise bring photocopies of maps or parts of maps that have some meaning for you. It could be a tourist map of a place you have been to: city, town, seaside, gardens, grounds of a National Trust property etc, etc. Photocopies are best unless the paper is thin and you don’t mind it being messed up. I printed mine in greyscale so the colours wouldn’t distract but do what suits you. Bondaweb or similar Organza, chiffon or both. Smallish pieces plus one piece to cover the whole of your work. Backing fabric in a neutral colour to suit; cream, pale green etc. (This would be a good opportunity to audition your organzas to see how they look against the background colour). Requirements

I will have several photocopies of maps particularly of Ugbrooke House and its grounds if you simply want to learn the process so don’t worry too much.

Bondaweb or similar

Organza, chiffon or both. Smallish pieces plus one piece to cover the whole of your work.

Backing fabric in a neutral colour to suit; cream, pale green etc. (This would be a good opportunity to audition your organzas to see how they look against the background colour).

Pritt stick, paper scissors, fabric scissors.

Iron and some sort of pad (we have three so not necessary if you don’t mind sharing)

Sewing machine with ability to free machine or you can choose to hand sew

Needles, thread and pins.

You may wish to bring tracing paper and plain paper and a pencil to simplify your map.

We will have our printing blocks and acrylic paint to block print highlights or just to play with the blocks. Apologies for their absence last time…communication blip!

Below is the example I have done to show you the kind of thing I will be demonstrating.
