Paper.li is an online research software that will help you discern between fake news and real news. To use it, all you have to do is have a topic. Paper.li will search for real articles on the Internet that are based on real news, and are reliable and credible sources that can be used for research papers. It provides you with all of the necessary information such as author, dates, and URLs. Paper.li also automatically updates your newspaper on a daily basis! If you are assigned another topic in another class, all you have to do is run another topic and Paper.li will create another newspaper. This software will keep track of all of the newspapers that you create so that you have access to those newspapers every time you go into your Paper.li account.

Project: Your project is to take a topic and create an online paper. You will have to select a topic.

1. Check with your teacher about topics that are available for research.

2. Log into your Twitter account.3. Open up a new tab in your Browser and type in

“paper.li”.4. When the website opens, click on the “Get Started,

its free!” search bar.5. In the “What news are you interested in?, type in

your research topic and hit “Enter”.6. The first website that opens will display a series of various websites related to your topic. 7. Once you are satisfied that this information is related to your topic, then click on it to

create your newspaper8. When you are satisfied with the articles of interest, go to the top, right hand side of the

website and click on “Next: Choose Layout.”9. You have two choices: Modern or Classic layout. Choose

whichever one you want for your newspaper design. Select the layout and then click on “Create my design”.

10. The topic I chose was “Cows”. Once I created my design, Paper.li will provide you with a series of online, real news articles that can be used for research.

11. In the top, right hand corner, you will see the “Setting” (Gear) wheel. Click on the wheel and a task bar will open on the right hand side of the page.

12. Options will appear on the task bar. If you choose “Content”, you can:

a. Fetch new contentb. Add content sources: allows you to access articles

from social mediasc. Manually add an article: add the URL of an articled. View your content sourcese. Advanced settings

13. Paper.li Menu: if you go to the top, left hand corner of the website and hover over the three lines to the right of the image, paper.li, you can access the Menu. Once you click on the menu, the following drop box will open (see image to the left). It is here where you will find all of the newspapers that you have created in the software. You will also find your personal settings here as well.

14. Reviewing Sources: follow these steps to research your sources:a. Click on an article and read through the article to see if it is an

article you can use for your topic.b. If you want the article, keep it. If you do not want the article,

remove it. To move or remove an article: i. Modern: hover over the title.

1. To delete, go to the right side of the screen, and select the “trash” can (see image below).

2. To move it, drag it up or down (see image below).ii. Classic:

1. Click on the “edit” icon on the top right of the page.2. To delete, hit the “trash” can3. To move, drag the article to its proper order.

c. You need 8 to 10 articles. That’s it. All you have to do is find articles to make sure you understand how the software works.

d. When you finish, show your teacher your final newspaper.
