Thank you for applying for the above post with the Ayrshire Hospice. This information sheet summarises the terms and conditions related to the post. The Hospice has recently undertaken a Pay and Benefit Review and the following terms and conditions will be effective from 1 April 2016.

ABOUT THE POST:

Employing Organisation: Ayrshire Hospice

Job Description: A job description is attached.

Salary/Grade Scale: £15,512 - £15,871 pro rata per annum

Your salary will be paid into your bank account on the last Friday of each month.

Hours of Work: 30 hours per week

Annual Leave: Leave year is from April – March

30 days (225 hours) on commencing employment32 days (240 hours) after 5 years’ service

For part time staff, this will be applied on a pro-rata basis and also allocated in hours.

Public Holidays: Entitlement is 37.5 hours based on the 5 designated Public Holidays per annum, and on a 5 day week working 7.5 hours per day. The 37.5 hours entitlement is due to all whole time staff irrespective of work pattern.

Pensions: The Company will comply with the employer pension duties in accordance with Part 1 of the Pensions Act 2008 by automatically enrolling you where eligibility criteria is met, in the Group Personal Pension Plan.

The Hospice provides a generous employer contribution of 7.5% of your salary per month provided a minimum 2.5% employee contribution is made.

2. JOB PURPOSE

Maintain a clean, safe working environment and to assist in the delivery of all Housekeeping services within the Hospice.

5. ROLE OF DEPARTMENT

The Hospice Housekeeping team provides the delivery of a support service through a high quality of housekeeping to all accommodation in compliance with Health and Safety Regulations and the Hospice Infection Control policy.

6. KEY RESULT AREAS

1. HOUSEKEEPING

To carry out all domestic duties to a high standard of cleanliness to include:

Daily and periodic maintenance of floors, using mechanical equipment wherever appropriate, in discussion with the Housekeeper.

Facilities

Manager

Damp dusting of ledges, tales radiators, chairs etc.

High dusting of curtain rails and door tops.

Cleaning of sanitary ware, glass door panels, interior windows and other areas as required.

Routine and terminal cleaning of areas contaminated by infection as per Infection Control policy.

2. LAUNDRY

Laundering of all linen, maintaining a high standard.

Laundering of patient’s personal clothing when required.

Recording information regarding items requiring mending and storing in designated place.

Receipt, checking and storage of clean linen.

3. To be responsible for the safe and economical use of equipment and materials, reporting all deficiencies to the Housekeeping Supervisor/Ward Manager

4. To undertake Mandatory Training including Infection Control and the correct use of equipment and materials

5. To report any equipment defects to the Housekeeping Supervisor/Ward Manager.

Workload will be determined by daily service requirements.

Housekeeping Supervisor monitors work performance according to work schedule and reviews through annual PDR’s.

Day to day work is assigned at the discretion of the Housekeeping Supervisor.

10. MOST CHALLENGING/DIFFICULT PARTS OF THE JOB

Being able to balance priorities within the given time to meet the demands of a busy Housekeeping service.

Demonstrating flexibility in the provision of the service.

11. COMMUNICATIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS

Housekeeping team members, and all other staff, including nursing, stewards, administration, as well as patients and relatives.

12. PHYSICAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS OF THE JOBRequirement to exert moderate physical effort.

Work pattern mainly predictable.

May occasionally be exposed to distressing or emotional circumstances.

Physical Skills:Buffing of floors.

Physical Demands:Walking /standing most of shift to include frequent bending and stretching.

Working Conditions:Occasional exposure to dirt and dust, unpleasant odours, cleaning sanitary areas on a daily basis, use of chemicals and disinfectants.
