The location for my chosen music video is in the London where the London eye and big ben is this is the connote power and the history of London in this music video Nicki Minaj seems very dominating and looks as though she is in power also, they use many locations that are very different to each other such as a night club and this is to show that wealthier and people that have power now days go out on nights out and have fun and do whatever they want to do whereas before in the olden days people that had power would just relax and have high dinners.. She is showing all the historical buildings of London to show the audience that back then women couldn’t be in power and now she is trying to indicate that she now as a woman is in power. The clothing that Nicki Minaj is wearing is very dominating and revelling this is to draw male attention to her she looks very sexual but her clothing looks very expensive such as the diamond clothing’s and the real bright yellow fur jacket this highlights the fact that Nicki Minaj is very wealthy and has a lot of male attention because of what she usually wears from the morning till the night scenes of the music video Nicki Minajs outfits change drastically from in the morning being more covered till the end of the night to being in clothing that is very reavling.in Nicki Minajs music video all her artists and herself are black this indicates that now people of a different race could now be more powerful than someone that is white whereas before black people had less power and were discriminated against their colour. The props used in this music video such as thrones shows power and status a throne is seen where a queen would sit so Nicki Minaj sitting on the throne she is trying to show that she also is a queen in her own way. Most of the music video is full of mid-level shots and is mostly hand held to try and show London at its fullest and show all the historical buildings that are very important in the music video. The hand held camera shows us things such as busses moving and people going about their day and also big ben and also, the historical monuments which all have meanings. The lyrics to Nicki Minaj song ‘’I don't need no, frauds’’ indicates that she is already wealthy and powerful so she doesn’t need to get anything she wants illegally.’’ Soon as I wake up keep an eye out for the snakes, yeah’’ means that she is very wary about who she talks to or even lets into her life because snakes is meant to mean someone who tells people your business so this means that Nicki Minaj is very careful with who she trust because of her status and the power that she has.My chosen music video is both a performance music video and also a narrative music video because the scenes that happen in the music video is basically what Nicki Minaj usually does which is goes out the night clubs but she isn’t an actual queen and she doesn’t actually sit on a throne but she is trying to show that she is as powerful as a queen and she is a queen in her own way. The music video is all about Nicki Minaj being powerful and trying to show the audience how much has changed since the olden days. The artist is represented by being wealthy and powerful and also, very dominating that draws male’s attention very quick also she is seen as powerful because of the throne that she sits on and very dominating by the things she wears and the way she walks into the room where there is a male. The big ben is an iconic sign because everyone knows about it and it has been here for hundreds of years. Also, the throne and the knife that knights people is an iconic sing because it has been used before by the queen.
