How To Wage Total War

1. No prisoner-of-war exchanges after the Massacre at Fort Pillow,

(Culminated in the harsh treatment of Union soldiers at the Confederate POW Camp in Andersonville,GA)

2. Destroy all of the enemies supplies and force them into submission.

1. Grant’s Objective is to Capture Richmond, Lee’s Objective is to Stop Grant.

2. May 5-7th: Battle of the Wilderness, Lee stops Grant

3. June 1-13th: Battle of Cold Harbor, VA

Grant will lose over 60,000 men, more than Lee's entire army.
