A letter from Mr. Lucius Gregory, a prominent business man of Chase City, to' Mr. J. H. K. Burgwin, of Manassas, gives m u c h interesting information about road improvement in Mecklenburg county, whicli may be of value to Prince William road builders. The letter follows:
We built in Mecklenburg county over B^) miles ©f graded, well draiiied».iulverted roads. . During most of t V time (constant rainy weather excepied) we can go anywhere in our county on <>a»a- 'Vha- ' ' '' ' ' most cut in half, for wagons can take about double the former load on the same team, and the teani fares nntieh better than formerly.
We bonded the districts separately, according to the mileage we~h6ped to build. T h e ^ ^ ^ thing, of course, was the gradmg. .Ihere axenownosteep g:radeson «n^ public road in the county. In
-some sections the soil-was very poor; when we strike those places we find that the roads get muddy.
