FAFSA determines Financial Aid award Financial Aid award determines how much CCAP funding a student will receive. H OW A RE CCAP S TUDENTS F UNDED ? If financial aid is not sufficient, CCAP will pay the remaining tuition for up to three years at Virginia Western for Roanoke City students who meet eligibility and performance requirements. H OW A RE CCAP S TUDENTS F UNDED ? CCAP funds do not cover: Cost of books Additional course fees Supplies Living expenses H OW A RE CCAP S TUDENTS F UNDED ? REFER TO CHECKLIST: 2016 graduates of Roanoke City High Schools must: Reside in Roanoke City and attend one of the public high schools in Roanoke City during junior and senior years. Achieve minimum required 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at midpoint (end of first semester) of senior year. Pass Virginia Placement Tests or receive qualifying SAT or ACT scores. Enroll in a Virginia Western degree / certificate program OR enroll in a credentialing program through Virginia Western Workforce Solutions. CCAP A PPLICANT R EQUIREMENTS Virginia Placement Tests Preparation: Online Resources for VPT English:or Online Resources for VPT Math:or Further Instructions on taking the VPT practice test: CCAP A PPLICANT R EQUIREMENTS Alternative Tests to the VPT: SAT: Must score 500 or higher on Critical Reading and 500 or higher on Writing to substitute for the VPT English and 520 or higher on Math to substitute for the VPT Math. ACT: Must receive a combined score of 18 or higher in the English and Writing and / or a score of 22 or higher in Math. Documentation must include the student name and test date. Scores are valid for 2 years from the testing date. Bring to PH CCAP Coordinator. CCAP A PPLICANT R EQUIREMENTS Short Term Training & Credentialing Programs A PPLICATION P ROCESS For Roanoke City CCAP Students - Welding 65 hrs. (7 or 16 wks.) Industrial Maintenance Technician 17 wks. Microsoft Office Specialist 202 hrs. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) 120 hrs. (4 wks.) Career Readiness Certificate 3 hrs. A PPLICATION P ROCESS REFER TO CHECKLIST: FINAL DUE DATE: 2/29/16 Apply for admission to Virginia Western 12/12/15 Take Virginia Western placement tests 1/5-8/16 Submit FAFSA 1/29/2016 Complete online CCAP application 2/5/2016A PPLICATION P ROCESS January 6, 2016 CCAP A PPLICATION D EADLINE The CCAP application will be available online February 29, 2016 CCAP A PPLICATION D EADLINE To be considered for CCAP, all checklist steps must be completed by CCAP I MPORTANT D EADLINES CCAP Application February 29, 2016 Placement Testing February 29, 2016 FAFSA Submitted February 29, 2016 CCAP Conditional Acceptance May 2, 2016 FAFSA Completed July 1, 2016 CCAP Final Acceptance August 1, 2016 Once accepted into CCAP, students must: Maintain minimum 2.0 GPA Maintain enrollment in at least 9 credits Perform 4 hr. service learning project each semester OR successfully complete credentialing program P ERFORMANCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY If in any semester a student: 1. withdraws from classes 2. falls below the 9 credit minimum enrollment 3. falls below required 2.0 GPA 4. does not meet other performance requirements, the student will not be eligible for CCAP funding in future semesters. P ERFORMANCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY VWCC A DVISING D AYS Advising Day is an opportunity for students to meet with New Student Advisors from Virginia Western to discuss: -placement test results -program (major) choice -CCAP application process It is recommended that the student completes the VWCC application and placement testing prior to Advising Day (TBD but probably last week of January or 1 st week of February). Ferrum College, Hollins University and Roanoke College offer incentive packages for successful CCAP students to continue their education after completing their degree at Virginia Western.
