QIM 501- INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN AND DELIVERY

Introduction The ADDIE model is the generic process

traditionally used by - instructional designers - training developers Represent a dynamic, flexible guideline for

building effective training and performance support tools

ADDIE Timeline

ADDIE

ADDIE stands for :- Analysis

Design

Develop

Implement

Evaluate

Steps in ADDIE Model

Analysis Phase Analyze important areas :-

The goals you want to achieve The material that must be taught The learners' current capabilities

serves a major role in the process defines the project's needs and ways to

measure its success Avoid mistake :-

Wrong focus - the course content may not address the needs

Too easy or too hard - the course could bore or frustrate the learners

Incomplete, redundant, or inaccurate content - the course might not teach the correct material

Analysis Phase

Questions that Drive the Analysis What are the goals and objectives for this training project? How will you define success for both the learner and the

project? Who is the target audience? What do the members of the learning audience already

know? What do they need to learn? What resources are already available?

Analysis Phase

Design Phase Create a road map for accomplishing the goals and

objectives The most appropriate media is selected by examining

the kinds of skills required to achieve your goal. Identify and list the learning steps required to

perform the task The learning objectives are written and the modules

are designed with its corresponding lessons.

Development Phase concerns the actual production of the design

specifications creating or obtaining any media mentioned in

the design creation of storyboards, graphics and

programming involved in the development

Implementation Phase developed course is actually administered to the

target audience issues that need to decide :-

Establish the timetable for the course rollout Schedule the courses, enroll learners, and reserve

on-site and off-site classrooms Notify learners and their supervisors about the

course

Implementation Phase issues that need to decide :-

Select trainers and prepare them with a custom train-the-trainer

Arrange for the printer to deliver course workbooks to the class site

Ensure all sites will have internet-ready computers and arrange for laptops to be shipped when necessary

Manage travel and expenses for the trainers and/or learners

Evaluation Phase decides whether the course is effective and satisfies

the course objectives considers feedback from learners consists of two parts: formative and summative

Formative evaluation is present in each stage of the ADDIE process

Summative evaluation consists of tests designed for domain specific criterion-related referenced items and providing opportunities for feedback from the users which were identified
