ENGINEERING: IT’S NOT JUST FOR THE BOYSSAME Savannah sponsors ‘Girls Engineer It’ Day

Savannah SAME helped sponsor The Society of Women Engineers’ third annual ‘Girls Engineer It’ Day. The event was held Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Woodville Tompkins Tech and Career High School in Savannah. ‘Girls Engineer It’ Day introduces middle and high school girls to the opportunities available in engineer-ing professions (although boys are welcome too). The almost 350 students that attended received invaluable industry exposure along with hands-on engineering activities. There also were information sessions for their parents concerning college choices and financial aid information. One of the main goals of the event is to show girls that engineering is a feasible career path for women. photo by Tracy Robillard, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
