years ago and was focus-sed on the construction of machinery for steam pro-duction for industrial use, more specifically for the design and construction of industrial thermal plants for the different types of industrial activities in the areas of Modena and Emi-

lia: “auto, dairy, ceramic, textile, etc”.For five generations, Panini S.r.l. has been constantly present on Italian and Euro-pean markets. More recen-tly, Panini has also increased and expanded its presence to include food preservation, aiming to become an impor-

tant manufacturer and sup-plier of sterilization systems for the food and beverage industry.The company is made up of two divisions:1. pressurized autocla-

ves for the food, glass, composite, rubber and impregnation sectors,

2. industrial technological services suitable for all the above-mentioned sectors.

NEW PRODUCTION UNITPanini’s new production unit, up and running sin-

ce September 2004, takes up more than 5,000 m², with a layout that has been especially designed to ra-tionalize production as per ISO9001 requirements. It is equipped with the most recent types of machinery, providing maximum relia-bility in terms of welding of

pressurized vessels, com-puterized plasma cutting and the absolute separation of production lines for the processing of stainless steel and carbon steel.

MECHANICAL DESIGN SKILLS AND PLANT ENGINEERINGPanini combines mecha-nical design skills (pres-surized vessels), electrical (control panels), software (supervision systems), and plant engineering (study of the layout, con-nections and fluid distri-bution) so as to have a total, 360° vision of the product, above all dedi-cating particular attention

to energy savings of the plants and operating safe-ty for clients. Panini manufactures pres-surized equipment as per the 97/23/CE “PED” Pressure Equipment Direc-tive of the European Com-munity, which substitutes the different norms of the European member states. The machines are tested and certified by the Bureau Veritas or similar certifi-cation services. Moreover, the equipment is certified as per the following stan-dards:

Having experience is one thing, but having a century of experience is another. This is exactly what Panini has – 100 years of activities and experience with five generations of the same family. Combining mechanical design skills and plant engineering, Panini focuses on the construction of autoclaves for the lamination of flat, curved and special types of glass.

AUTOCLAVES FOR THE GLASS SECTORWith regards to the glass sector, Panini’s activities focus on the construction of autoclaves for the lami-nation of flat, curved and special types of glass, also including tempered and hardened glass.Panini autoclaves are pres-surized chambers where pressure, temperature and vacuum levels are careful-ly controlled. Uniformity conditions are guaranteed by a forced air circulation system made up of a pres-surized ventilator motor, with a rotor and plenum air distribution. The company also carries out special studies and ap-

plications regarding auto-matic loading systems, including those carried out by means of “Shuttle” working with a series of autoclaves. The sizes of the autocla-ves are based on the sizes of the flat glass sheets, with standard dimen-sions, such as:

include electric, gas with diathermic oil circulation, and indirect vapour.Cooling systems available are: open circuit evapo-rative cooling tower and closed circuit cooling unit.Panini’s autoclaves also have a series of auxiliary equipment:

under-trolleys and two swivelling wheels able to move across the wor-kshop floor, pulled by forklift trucks and/or electric transporters;

by means of rails, with

swivelling and/or sli-ding platforms for the positioning of the carts to be loaded or to be moved around the wor-kshop;

pump and storage tank for the processing of curved glass and special glass types with irregu-lar shapes that cannot be processed with a la-minating line;

for the manual manage-ment of operations;

and control systems of operations entirely au-tomatic with remote support and assistance via Ethernet.

be anchored or freestanding, is studied closely as per the needs and eventual difficulties that can be found in the production area. Temperature and humidity le-vels are controlled in detail ba-sed on the environmental con-ditions of the client’s premises, and including the wet bulb in the area where the laminating line is positioned.
