Well and good Bro Holloway uniformity is coming and tl > fay Is not far distant when the poor mothers and dads are going to taro oft the yoke of the book trus- tlMoed upon them by a grafting bch and then you may see the way the wind Is blowing by watching the smoke What a shame that a school book used in Citrus county caamot be used In Marion one from Marion caanot be used in Levy etc aa t jut advertisement the educa- tional ¬ meeting held in the Masonic hall last Tuesday night was a success Prof Frank Ellis principal or the Dunnellon school acted as chairman and In a few well chosen words stated the object of the meeting and intro ¬ duced the various speakers who spoke in the following order First came State Superintendent Holloway who In a humorous way Introduced Capt Geo ST Lynch of the Florida UniversItY who read the propaganda and incidentally ex- plained ¬ its meaning He said his job was easy as his speech was already printed but his followers were only written which caused amusement The next educator introduced was one who in a general way needs no introduction to Marion county citi ¬ zens He was our esteemed anti ca ¬ pable county superintendent Mr Brlnson who spoke to the educational movement In Florida and stated that in Marion county alone there were 150 teachers and 57 white and 46 ne- gro ¬ schools His remarks were pre- cise ¬ and to the point and he had his subject well in hand as did RE Turner superintendent of Citrus county schools who held his au ¬ dience for about 20 minutes and proved that he had given the ques ¬ tion ipf education a good deal of grave and careful attention His remarks- were forceful and to the point and left a lasting impression upon his hearers He spoke of the necessity of better teachers and better pay for them which will be the solution of a- very grave matter when the people awake to the fact that the best teacher at a high salary Is cheaper than a poor teacher at a low salary- Mr Holloway state superintendent of public instruction made a few re ¬ marks stating the reasons of the educational meeting and then excused himself as he was feeling tired from the effects of a hard days work and travel It was his first appearance In Dunnellon in five years He paid some of the members of the last leg ¬ islature anything but a compliment- and in that he is generally agreed with He said compulsory educa ¬ tion was coming soon With all due and proper respect to the other members who preceeded him Capt Geo M Lynch of the Flor- ida ¬ University no doubt had the larger part of the audience with him for not being a brainy man he Is as he was called last Wednesday the outtakenest man you ever seen Capt Lynch had the audience first serious then laughing and then in tears and last brought them back smiling and thoroughly acquainted with the purpose of thb meeting His work in Florida is invaluable and we would like to hearthe captain often Col Guilliams of Bowling Green Ky an educator second to none In the South was next Introduced and made one of those brief addresses for which > is famous as they are al- ways ¬ clean cut and to the point His t delivery was excellent and we be- lieve ¬ the audience thoroughly under ¬ stood the seriousness of the move ¬ ment when he sat down The colonel was formerly comman- dant ¬ of the East Florida Seminary at Gainesville and has done more to ¬ I wards training teachers and making good ones than probably any other one man in the state Hesaid it felt good to be back In Florida Benj Sams the TimesUnion rep ¬ resentative also addressed the people- on the same question and 1 amused them with several stories and amus- ing ¬ sayings The hall was full of ladies gentle- men ¬ I and children and chairs were in I useThe meeting then adjourned SWEPT OVER NIAGARA Educational Rally-As per advertisement the educa-

tional¬

meeting held in the Masonichall last Tuesday night was a success

Prof Frank Ellis principal or theDunnellon school acted as chairmanand In a few well chosen words statedthe object of the meeting and intro ¬duced the various speakers whospoke in the following order

First came State SuperintendentHolloway who In a humorous wayIntroduced Capt Geo ST Lynch ofthe Florida UniversItY who read thepropaganda and incidentally ex-plained

¬

its meaning He said his jobwas easy as his speech was alreadyprinted but his followers were onlywritten which caused amusement

The next educator introduced wasone who in a general way needs nointroduction to Marion county citi ¬

zens He was our esteemed anti ca ¬pable county superintendent MrBrlnson who spoke to the educationalmovement In Florida and stated thatin Marion county alone there were150 teachers and 57 white and 46 ne-gro

¬

schools His remarks were pre-cise

¬

and to the point and he had hissubject well in hand as did RETurner superintendent of Citruscounty schools who held his au ¬

dience for about 20 minutes andproved that he had given the ques¬

tion ipf education a good deal of graveand careful attention His remarks-were forceful and to the point andleft a lasting impression upon hishearers He spoke of the necessityof better teachers and better pay forthem which will be the solution of a-

very grave matter when the peopleawake to the fact that the bestteacher at a high salary Is cheaperthan a poor teacher at a low salary-

Mr Holloway state superintendentof public instruction made a few re¬

marks stating the reasons of theeducational meeting and then excusedhimself as he was feeling tired fromthe effects of a hard days work andtravel It was his first appearance InDunnellon in five years He paidsome of the members of the last leg ¬

islature anything but a compliment-and in that he is generally agreedwith He said compulsory educa¬

tion was coming soonWith all due and proper respect to

the other members who preceededhim Capt Geo M Lynch of the Flor-ida

¬

University no doubt had thelarger part of the audience with himfor not being a brainy man he Is ashe was called last Wednesday theouttakenest man you ever seenCapt Lynch had the audience first

serious then laughing and then intears and last brought them backsmiling and thoroughly acquaintedwith the purpose of thb meeting Hiswork in Florida is invaluable and wewould like to hearthe captain often
