Shifts for NICU: Monday-Friday
3am-7am 5pm-10pm 10pm-3am
Saturday and Sunday 7:30am-1pm 1pm-5pm
Depending on volunteers, you may be scheduled every 3-4 weeks
When is NICU?
ONLY if you are called by a NICU Co-chair
We will NOT call you after 9pm
You are on-call for the day until 9pm
On the weekends: Saturday volunteers will be called on
Friday nights Sunday volunteers will be called on
Saturday morning or afternoon
When do I go in?
The NICU Co-chairs do not find replacements, this is all on you!
Switch shifts with another person so you don’t lose a shift
Find an alternate to cover your shift
Look at the volunteer list for a specific person to switch shifts
Once you found someone to cover your shift, email BOTH NICU Co-chairs so we can make sure to call the right person
What if I can’t make my shift?
Contact your scheduled partner to arrange transportation
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
BE ON TIME!!
For shifts from 7am-10pm, go to the Equine front desk
For shifts from 10pm-7am, call 515-294-6207 or go to the small animal door and ring the ICU bell, a student will let you in
When we call you in:
Go south on University Blvd. (towards Hwy 30)
Take a left onto 16th street
Then a right into the second driveway to the Veterinary College
Go through the large white gate (looks like it’s just a fence)
Park in the lot by the entrance to the Large Animal Hospital in the client parking
Directions to Vet Med
When you are called in, you MUST go!
