What is NNELS?•NNELS is downloadable ereading service of alternative format materials available to public library patrons with a perceptual disability.

What is a perceptual disability?• severe or total impairment of sight or the

inability to focus or move one’s eyes;• inability to hold or manipulate a book;• reading impairment relating to comprehension.

How is a Daisy Book Made?1. Scan a book

2. Use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to produce an etext file.

3. Use the functions available in Word to make it accessible

4. Produce and edit an XML file

5. Convert to Daisy
