    Airport Bus

National Express and Green Line offer coach service from Heathrow, Stansted andLuton airports into London. This is the most economical way of reaching London fromStansted and Luton and the buses run through the night. However, the journey is likelyto take about 2 hours.

    Express Train Service

Heathrow and Gatwick offerexpress trains that offer quickconnections at a high cost. There

are cheaper, stopping servicesavailable to these airports.Stansted is serviced by a singletrain service, the Stansted Express, while Luton is serviced by FirstCapital Connect stopping services.

London's transport system mainly consists of buses and the underground. However, there are more options taxis and bike rentals are presentthroughout the city.

    Buses and the Underground

London Underground covers much of Greater London and some neighbouringareas. Heathrow and City Airport are also located on the underground networkand are the most conomical ways of reaching the city. However, these can beless convenient if you are carrying a large amount of luggage.

It is the world's oldest underground system, and is one of the largest in terms ofroute length. A user friendly ticketing system has been employed to helppassengers with their journey, including the Oyster card - a smartcard thatcustomers can obtain, charge with credit, and use to pay for travel. It is a joint

system for the underground and buses -the famous red double-deckers! The busroutes cover the entire Greater LondonArea, making it easy to reach majorattractions and destinations. Detailedinformation on tickets and pricing is

available from theTransport for Londonwebsite - http://www.tfl.gov.uk/.

    Taxis

In the United Kingdom, taxis are referredto as mini or black cabs. Taking a taxi inLondon is very safe and simple. It also is

a very convenient way of traveling, especially for a group rather thanindividuals (the cabs can accommodatebetween 4-6 people), since the fare priceis the same regardless of the amount ofpassengers usually 1-1.50 per mile.Outside the Airport Terminal there will betaxis waiting to transport passengers totheir destinations. However, please notethat airport taxis are extremely expensivecompared to the regular fare.

    Bicycle

Many people, including some of ourteachers and students, commute toschool by bike. It is economical andsometimes faster than any other means oftransportation. Bicycles can bepurchased, either new or second hand.

    Accommodation in General

All of LSI's accommodations are carefully selected to ensure that they meet our

    quality standards.

    Host Families Join In!

The majority of students who attend classes at LSI London Central choose tolive with host families during their stay. The greatest advantage of a Homestayexperience is the opportunity to communicate and interact with people outsidethe classroom.

Our hosts provide a comfortable private room, completely furnished with all theamenities of a home. We generally offer our students the half-boardprogramme, which includes breakfast and an evening meal. Details about ourother accommodation options (residence, dormitory or hotel) are available uponrequest.

Host families live within a 45 minute commute by public transportation to LSI

London Central. Our accommodation officer carefully selects every host familyto ensure that the student's stay is comfortable, enjoyable, safe and that it feelsjust like at home. Our families homes range in size from an apartment to largerhomes. Londoners are fairly casual and will treat a newcomer almost like afamily member, so students should not be surprised if their host encouragesthem to join them in the kitchen to prepare a typical dish from their country, or to"help yourself" to breakfast, rather than being served. Most hosts will involvestudents in menu selection and some hosts are able to accommodate specialdietary requirements.

    Flatshare and Residence Accommodations

We are delighted to offer a wide range of flatshare and residence

accommodations suitable for all budgets. These accommodations will beparticularly useful to those who are seeking more independence and prefer self-catering accommodations. All of our flatshare and residence accommodationsare located within easy reach of underground stations in zones 1 and 2.
