On November 26th, Thanksgiving Day, Mass will be held at
St. Bruno’s at 9:00 am. There will be regular daily Mass at 8:00 am at
St. Paul's on Friday, Nov. 27. The Parish office will be closed both days.
PREPARE! Advent and Christmas are right around
the corner. In an effort to accommodate a limited
capacity of parishioners at the Christmas Masses
while maintaining safety measures, we will be
requiring registraons to a end Christmas Eve
and Christmas Day Masses. This is a big change
from normal years, which is why we are planning
ahead. Signups now to a end Mass through
Monday, December 14th at noon. We will then
reach back out to everyone who registered to
confirm seats. Visit our website or:

Stewardship Corner
The “Creaon of Adam” is a piece of Michelangelo’s artwork that
can be found on the ceiling of the Sisne Chapel in Vacan City. I
have never seen it in person but I have been able to consider its
beauty and symbolism because of a reprint that I have at home. I
love the quote that accompanies the reprint of Adam and God’s
fingers is “The true work of art is but a shadow of the divine
perfecon.” The quote is so true because human beings are so
capable of creang beauful things as evidenced by Michelangelo’s
art or Mozart’s music or Shakespeare’s plays. Yet these things are
just a shadow of the beauty of God. We are made in the image and
likeness of God so we each individually are true works of art.
However, like the quote says, we are living in a shadow of what is to
come.
The Church dedicates the last Sunday of the liturgical year to
celebrate Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.
During every Mass, we recite the Nicene Creed in which we say “For
our sake he was crucified under Ponus Pilate, he suffered death and
was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the
Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand
of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the
dead and his kingdom will have no end.” The beauty of the resurrec-
on had to follow the ugliness of the cross. And it was ugly. I don’t
know about you, but I have a kneejerk reacon in wanng to gloss
over the ugliness of Good Friday, when Jesus took on our sin and
died on the cross. But we wouldn’t have the joy of Easter morning
without the pain and sorrow of Friday evening. Jesus has defeated
death and has been crowned King of the Universe. God has given
Jesus the name above every name and He is seated at the right
hand of the Father, which is what we celebrate today! This fact
alone should wipe away every fear and failure we have. Jesus
entered (and sll enters) the darkest parts of our lives and wants to
restore and redeem us, thereby making the ugly parts of us
beauful. All we have to do is open the door to his love and mercy.
What does this have to do with stewardship? Well, a life of
Stewardship begins with our relaonship with Jesus and is an
ouAlow of God’s love coming through us. The giving of our me,
talent, or treasure is a simple yet profound way of giving back to
God what he so generously gives us.
So as we approach Thanksgiving week, let us take me to give
thanks for Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe and the many
blessings God has given us.
To God be the Glory,
Kelsey [email protected]

What is the lile room to the
right of the altar with the
3 glass doors?
That is a very special place in our
church called the Adora.on Chapel.
Inside you will find a very large item that looks like a box with a roof
and a cross on top. This is called the tabernacle. Tabernacle comes
from a Lan word meaning “tent”. When you look at our tabernacle
you can see that it resembles a tent! It’s like a shelter where the
priest puts the consecrated hosts.
Did you know that you can visit the Adoraon Chapel any me you
wish? The O awa Avenue entrance is open all the me. Come and
spend some me with Jesus in prayer, he’s always there waing for
you!

Sharing our faith in Christ our King
For some of us, that is a bit inmidang. It does not mean you must
knoweverythingabout our faith or be able to quote loads of
chapter and verse from Scripture or are able to spontaneously pray
complex, theologically deep prayers with someone else or go
knocking on stranger's doors toshare theWord of God.Just to be
clear, though, any of thosearepre#y cool! But they are not
prerequisites.
Sharing your faith starts withknowing that you BELONG to Christ
our King and BELIEVING that His life, death, and resurrecon can
bring you eternal life because you follow Him. Itmeans shar-
ingYOURexperience of the Good News of God's workin
youthrough the Holy Spirit. Paying a enon to and acng on the
nudges of the Holy Spirithelp you to BECOME the person
Godcreated you to be.
So if you share something good or true or beauful (all those come
from God) about your life, or you perform a spiritual or corporal act
of mercy andyoushare what it means to youto have an encounter
withour Lord in that experience, that is faith sharing aka evangeliza-
on and it is powerful.
Your bapsm gives you the POWER of the Holy Spirit to have the
right words to say. Try it someme! Maybe you're geHng together
for a holiday or a Zoom family/friends call. Introduce some faith
sharing into these moments. Share memories by recalling examples
of faith of family members who are now in the communion of
saints. What moments in your own faith journey stand out for
you? What did your parents teach you that you have passed on to
your children? Tell those stories!!
Walking with a three year old who bends
down to noce a ny flower amidst the fall
leaves and then calls you over to see it is an
amazing moment. His family has taught him
to noce things in nature and they have
shared the experience of finding and
discovering God's treasures of nature together. My grandson was a
powerful witness to the giLs of the Creator when he shared that
special find with me.
Ponder this quote from Pope Benedict on theFeast of Christ the
King, 2009: “In what does this "power” of Jesus Christ the King
consist? It is not the power of the kings or the great people of this
world; it is the divine power to give eternal life, to liberate from evil,
to defeat the dominion of death. It is the power of Love that can
draw good from evil, that can melt a hardened heart, bring peace
amid the harshest conflict and kindle hope in the thickest darkness.”
Go out of your comfort zone soon to put some faith sharing into
a conversa*onthat would not normally include it. Share those
stories of faith and bring forth LOVE, PEACE, and HOPE. The world
needs more of that these days and YOU, right here, right now,
have the power of the Holy Spirit to do it.

WHY DO WE DO THAT? CATHOLIC TRADITION EXPLAINED
Ques-on: What is Eucharisc Adoraon?
Answer: The pracce of Eucharisc Adoraon is a centuries old
ritual and falls within a broader category of devoons and rituals
that are associated with the Sacrament of the Eucharist. In a
parcular way, Eucharisc Adoraon is an extension of the worship
and adoraon of the Blessed Sacrament that occurs in every Mass.
In a longstanding pracce, a period of Eucharisc Adoraon oLen
ends with “benedicon,” the blessing of the faith with the Blessed
Sacrament.
Several parishes throughout the United States have introduced
the pracce of perpetual Eucharisc Adoraon, while other
communies have the custom of shorter periods of Eucharisc
Adoraon. Care should always be taken that these periods of
adoraon respect the instrucons outlined in Holy Communion and
Worship of the Eucharist Outside of Mass, the liturgical book that
gives the instrucons for the proper celebraon of Eucharisc
Adoraon.
Although adoraon of the Blessed Sacrament can never take the
place of Eucharisc Communion, many Catholics find great comfort
and consolaon in their prayers before the Eucharist enshrined in
the tabernacle or when it is exposed in the monstrance (both are
equally valid, as the Christ is not more present in one than in the
other). But when we consider our eucharisc devoons, it is always
important to remember the fundamental connecon these acts of
devoon have the celebraon of the Eucharist in the Mass and
recepon of Christ in Communion. ©LPi

Advent Challenge:
Advent begins November 29th, 2020!
Make a plan for Advent. How will you celebrate it? There are MANY
tradions that people have for keeping this me holy. So, what will
you do to help your heart prepare for the King of kings to come in
and dwell within you? Remember,if you fail to prepare, you prepare
to fail. Take some me before Advent begins to decide how you and
your family will PREPARE this season.
BEFORE ADVENT consider:
geHng your Christmas shopping done before November 29

We can all probably say that we have an abundance of blessings,
but when we have an overabundance of stuff, it can become a
distracon. We challenge all parishioners to enter into the season of
Advent by reinvigorang their adventtradions or start some new
ones. Advent can be the busiest me of the year with an unending
list of todos. Come away from the bustle and hustle during this
season by makingthis Advent more prayerful and more focused on
all the blessings God has provided us, namely Jesus. Here are some
ideas on how to celebrate Advent:
Have an advent wreath
Read the Gospel of Luke

LIVE THE LITURGY
INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK
Titles and privileges, palaces and guards,
banquets and benefits, servants and fine
living, are all things earthly folks associate
with kings and royalty. These have no
place in Christ. To understand the
kingdom of Christ and what it means to
have Christ as our king, one must be
willing and able to understand
transformaon, engagement and
empowerment. To live in the kingship of
Christ, we have to live deeply and
contemplavely; allowing God to change
not only how we act, but how we feel,
think, and see. It is not an easy journey or
one that is always welcomed. Somemes,
it is easier and safer to live as if Christ
were our earthly king. It’s a more black
and white world. But the kingdom of
Christ exists in a world of gray where the
hungry, thirsty, those who are strangers,
naked, ill, and imprisoned find a welcome
home. It is a kingdom that doesn’t always
make sense, where the last are first and
the weakest are most strong. World
economics and secular philosophy doesn’t
like this kind of king. Maybe that is why
they crucified him the first me and
connue to. Whatever we do to the least
of God’s children, we do to God. Do you
really want to inherit the kingdom? ©LPi
