Improving Opportunities for Young Men of Color
Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies Health Policy Institute established the Dellums Commission to analyze policies that affect the physical, emotional and social health of young men of color and their communities
The Dellums Commission developed
an action plan to alter public policies that limit life paths for young men of color

The Dellums Commission was composed of twenty-five individuals, scholars, politicians, activists, researchers and youth
To understand the issues more fully, experts prepared background papers on factors impairing health such as poverty, social exclusion, inadequate schools and poor health systems

The work of the Dellums Commission is part of a larger effort by the Health Policy Institute (funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation) to ignite a “Fair Health” movement to encourage healthy communities of color
