After the nearly complete establishment of the South Campus of IIT Mandi at Kamand, now the North Campus at Salgi has started to become functional. The First building in North Campus was inaugurated on 18 th April, 2016, Takshila Primary School of IIT Mandi by Dr. Priscilla Gonsalves, in the presence of the Director, Deans, Registrar, members of the faculty, staff, members of IIT community and parents. This building was completed in a short duration of 8 months , due to the dedication of the NBCC team, and untiring efforts of the Construction Wing of IIT Mandi. On 6 th August 2016, 20 new PG students made history by being the first batch to shift into the North Campus at Kamand. The fresh PG students have occupied rooms in the new B22 Hostel block. The Director, IIT Mandi shifted his residence on 24 th October 2016 from South campus to North Campus along with some faculty members and their families. He expressed his thanks to all who were involved in making this a reality - CPWD who built the hostel, NBCC (for the road, etc.), IIT Mandi Construction Wing, hostel management, and administration. And also to the pioneering PG students, who shifted to North Campus. One More Milestone in the history of IIT Mandi North Campus has become functional

One More Milestone in the history of IIT Mandi North Campus has become functional
Out of the total 50 buildings planned to be built at the North Campus, The School Building, 03 residential blocks, 01 hostel (50 room capacity), 02 blocks of Staff quarters are ready and functional now.
Few more hostels (02) and residential buildings (03) are expected to be ready by March 2017. The work of few of the Academic Blocks are also under rapid progress. With the completion of these buildings, few more students and faculties & their family are expected to move into North Campus.
An extension of the institute Medical Unit has been opened in the North Campus to provide immediate medical services to the residents.
