02 Tunggul Jepara Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017 diajarkan melalui Spelling

Berbicara Bahasa Inggris sangatlah penting untuk siswa, karena mereka
bias memberikan informasi, ide, serta mempererat hubungan sosial dengan
berkomunikasi dengan yang lain. Berbicara adalah salah satu dari 4 kecakapan
bahasa, yang fungsi dasarnya sebagai alat komunikasi. Salah satu fungsi dari
berbicara adalah untuk berkomunikasi dengan yang lain. Tanpa berbicara, kita
tidak bisa berkomunikasi dengan yang lain, memberi informasi, atau yang lain.
Ada beberapa masalah yang terjadi dalam mengajar berbicara. Pertama, mereka
kurang dalam kosa katanya.Kedua, mereka takut membuat kesalahan. Ketiga,
guru menggunakan cara yang sama. Salah satu cara yang dapat digunakan untuk
mengajar berbicara adalah permainan Mengeja. Karena bisa membuat siswa
tertarik pada pelajaran, memperkaya kosa kata dan kecakapan berbicara.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan
yang signifikan antara kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas lima SD Negeri 02
Tunggul Jepara pada Tahun Ajaran2016/2017 sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan
permainan mengeja.
Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan kuasi-eksperimen penelitian
sebagai gambaran penelitian. Data dikumpulkan dengan tes oral pre-test dan post-
test. Kemudian penulis mengidentifikasi dan menganalisa berdasarkan
perhitungan statistik untuk mendapatkan hasil yang akurat, lengkap dan sitematis.
Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas lima SD Negeri 02 Tunggul
Jepara Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017 dan sampel yang terdiri dari 26 siswa.
Hasil dari penelitian ini menunujukkan bahwa kemampuan berbicara siswa
pada kelas lima SD Negeri 02 Tunggul Jepara Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017 sebelum
menggunakan permainan mengeja ditemukan nilai paling tinggi adalah 70, dan
nilai paling rendah adalah 52. Dari perhitungan data, rata-rata adalah 6.4 dan
simpangan baku adalah 7. Sehingga, hasilnya sudah cukup. Sedangkan, test lisan
dari kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas lima SD Negeri 02 Tunggul Jepara Tahun
Ajaran 2016/2017 setelah diajarkan menggunakan permainan mengeja ditemukan
score paling tinggi adalah 90, dan score paling rendah adalah 64. Dari perhitungan
data, rata-rata adalah 76 dan simpangan baku adalah 6.4. Ini digolongkan sebagai
baik. Untuk menganalisa data, penulis menggunakan t-test. Hasil dari t observasi
(t0 ) adalah 4.8. Dibandingkan dengan t tabel (tt) pada derajat kebebasan 25 di
taraf dari arti 2.05, ini memaksudkan bahwa hasil dari t observasi (t0 ) adalah lebih
tinggi dibandingkan t tabel (tt) dan ini menunjukkan ada perbedaan yang sgnifikan

antara kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas lima SD Negeri 02 Tunggul Jepara
Tahun Ajaran2016/2017 sebelum dan sesudah diajarkan dengan menggunakan
permainan mengeja.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diatas, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa Spelling
bee game meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas lima SD Negeri 02
Tunggul Jepara Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017. Untuk Guru Bahasa Inggris, harus lebih
kreatif dan inovatif untuk memilih strategi pengajaran untuk menyampaikan
bahan. Maupun dapat mempergunakan permainan mengeja sebagai salah satu
ilmu pengetahuan tentang teknik pengajaran dan referensi dari proses belajar-
mengajar, terutama untuk materi public places. Untuk peneliti selanjutnya,
terutama yang punya masalah yang sama dan berkepentingan di penelitian
budidaya, disarankan bahwa pembahasan ini dapat digunakan sebagai referensi.
Penulis baru mempergunakan gambar sebagai media. Diharapkan, penelitian
selanjutnya untuk melengkapi ilmu penelitian tentang teknik ini dan
dikembangkan lagi dengan media yang lain.

Speaking English is very important for students for conveying
information, ideas, and maintain social relationship by communicating with
others.Speaking is one of four language skills, which is basic function of language
as communication instrument. One of the functions of speaking is to communicate
with others. Without speaking, we cannot communicate with other, giving
information, or something else. There are some problems of in teaching speaking.
First, they are lack of vocabulary. Second, the students are afraid or making
mistakes. The third, the teacher uses monotonous technique. One technique can be
used in teaching speaking is Spelling Bee Game because it can attract the students
about the subject, enrich the vocabulary and their speaking ability.
The objective of the research is to find out whether there is significant
difference between the speaking ability of fifth graders of SD Negeri 02 Tunggul
in the academic year 2016/2017 before and after taught by using spelling bee
game.
In this research, the writer used quasi-experimental research as a design of
the research. The data were collected by oral test of pre-test and post-test. Then,
the writer identified and analysed based on statistic calculation for getting the
result accurately, completely and systematically. The population of the research is
the fifth graders of SD Negeri 02 Tunggul Jepara in the academic year 2016/2017
and the sample that consist of 26 students.
The result of this research shows that the speaking ability of fifth graders
of SD Negeri 02 Tunggul Jepara in the academic year 2016/2017 before being
taught by using spelling bee game is found the highest score is 70, and the lowest
score is 52. From the calculation of the data, the mean is 64 and the standard
deviation is 7. So, the result is sufficient. Meanwhile, the oral test of the speaking
ability of fifth graders of SD Negeri 02 Tunggul Jepara in the academic year
2016/2017 after being taught by using spelling bee game is found the highest
score is 90, and the lowest score is 62. From the calculation of the data, the mean
is 76 and the standard deviation is 6.4. It is categorized as good. For analysing the
data, the writer used t-test for dependent sample. The result of t-observation (t0) is
4.8. Compared by t-table (tt) on the degree of freedom 25 in level of significance
2.05, it means that the result of t-observation (t0) is higher than t-table (tt) and it
shows there is significant difference between the speaking ability of fifth graders
of SD Negeri 02 Tunggul Jepara in the academic year 2016/2017 before and after
being taught by using spelling bee game.

Based on the research result above, the writer concludes that Spelling Bee
Game is appropriate in increasing the speaking ability of fifth graders of SD
Negeri 02 Tunggul Jepara in the academic year 2016/2017. For the English
teachers, should be more creative and innovative to select the teaching strategy to
deliver the material. And also can use spelling bee game as a teaching technique
and reference of teaching and learning process, especially in public places. For
further researcher, particularly those who have the same problem and interested in
conducting research. It is suggested to use this study as a reference. The writer
just use picture as media. Hopefully, there will be any further researcher to
complete this technique and develop the other media.
