You will use your MATH JOURNAL to define them.

Copy down the words then write down the definition to

each word.

place value – the value determined by the position of a digit in a number.

decimal – part of a whole number.

even – an even number can be divided into two equal groups. You only have to check the last digit to tell if a number is even.0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 are all even numbers.

Place value starts with “P”. So find “P”

in your INDEX.

To know the value of the number.If you are in the library, being able to order and compare numbers helps you locate the book you want. If you are looking for an address, being able toorder and compare numbers helps you not get lost If you want to buy a video game, being ableto order and compare numbers helps you figure out if you have enough money.

the hang of it. I expect everyone to be able to do this all on their own by the end of

September.
