„Gebalis goes solar“
It‘s not if we can‘t pay it, is like we don‘t want to!

Main purpose Help people from low-income urban zones to save
money
Simulate a PV-System production to see if it can match the energy consumed by a typical family
Analyze daily routine
Changing consumer behaviors
Decreasing energy
consumption
3
Stakeholders Gebalis:
- Public Housing Authority – born in 1995 – around 2500 houses in Lisbon
- owns 23 PV-Systems connected to the grid-> the returns are invested for the buildings
Families:- low income people living in residences managed by
Gebalis- see the PV-Systems of Gebalis as a private business-
>look askance at it

Meeting with the family (Gebalis) Gebalis put us in contact with a family that lives
in one of their flat in Lisbon.
We installed the device (“Cloogy – Home”) to measure the energy consumption and to collect data about the family that lives there, through a brief interview.
The family is made up of only one woman, since her daughter is at the moment studying abroad.

“Cloogy – Home”
- Clamp and Transmitter: is connected to the electricity meter of the flat and send the information to the Hub - Power Plug: measures the consumption of one domestic plug and send the information to the Hub - Hub: is connected to the internet modem and send the information from the Transmitter and Power Plug to the Web Portal (http://ienergy3.isa.pt:8o8o) - Display: shows the real time information and the accumulated consumption

Monitoring and analysisThe values measured by the Cloogy-Home device are continuously monitored and studied in order to define the profile of the family concerning the “energy behaviors”.
The graphs that show these values are very useful to identify when the main energy consumption occurs and what amount of it could be avoided.

Simulation of the PV-System using the software PVSYST V5.0 - select: panels, inverter, angle, location, period of the year,
etc.
Gebalis PV-Systems:- 24 Multicrystalline-Panels per System (best cost-performance ratio)- 160Wp per Panel - Inverter: SunnyBoy3800- 1 System produce about 550kWh (~400€) during a summer month
Compare the simulated PV-System to the existing Systems from Gebalis
