HOW TO USE THOSE COOL ICONS:Remember, each One Way Out® font contains three icons. (See the charts on pages 4-15)

Macintosh Users:While holding down the “Option” key, type in the following lower case number key abovethe regular alphabet keys (do NOT use the ten key pad):

“6” for the first icon“7” for the second icon“9” for the third icon

(IMPORTANT: Be sure to use the numbers above the regular alphabet keys, and not the key pad.)

PC Users:While holding down the “Alt.” key, type in the following number sets on your ten key padwith the Num Lock On (do NOT use the number keys above the regular alphabet keys):

“0167” for the first icon“0182” for the second icon“0170” for the third icon

(IMPORTANT: Be sure to use the numbers on your ten key pad with the Num Lock On.)

PC Laptop Users:See your manual about turning on the ‘ten key pad’ on your keyboard. (Usually it’s the“7, 8, 9, U, I, O, J, K, L, & M” on the keyboard) Then use the keys described above forPC Users.

If your laptop does not have a ‘ten key pad’ function. You can find and open the “CharacterMap” application/program. Then: 1) Select the font you want. 2) Select the icon you want(it will probably be very small). 3) Copy. 4) Paste into you favorite program or application(word processor etc.).

To make the icon larger simply highlight the icon as if it were any other letter and increasethe point size in your favorite program or application.

§ TROUBLE SHOOTING:

Some of the more thrashed fonts and icons have several hundred points per character. They havebeen simplified as much as possible without losing their cool hand-lettered appearance. The downside is that some of the fonts (for example OWO Havoc™, OWO Toxic Waste™, OWO Frazzle™, OWOHigh Five™ and some of the various icons or larger letters) can take quite a bit of memory.

POSSIBLE LOW MEMORY SITUATIONS:• If your computer or printer has replaced some of the characters with a generic rectangular

box or added spikes (very thin stray lines) on screen or paper, then this means that eitheryour application or printer (typically laser printers with less than 4 megabytes of RAM)does not have enough memory to: A) Reproduce the character or icon at all. B) Reproducethe character or icon at that size. C) Reproduce the character or icon along with all theother fonts and graphics placed in the same document.

• If you are using the PostScript® version and you get spikes on the screen and no spikeson the printout try: Increasing the cache memory to ATM™ or Zoom up on the image, andthe spikes will disappear.

• If spikes appear in the icons when printed, but not on the screen, your printer is runninglow on memory.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:Try the following to help with the previous low memory situations:

1. Decrease the size of the characters and reprint.2. If your document has other placed graphics or several other fonts, try reducing the

number of graphics or fonts. That may allow the printer enough memory to print.3. Download the fonts to your printer (please see your printer manual on how to download

fonts). This will put the fonts into the printers memory; however, if the printer is lowon memory, it still may not print correctly.

4. Allocate more memory to the application you are using. Macintosh® Users (System 7-9.x): Quit your application, click on the application icon once and select “Get Info” underthe “File” menu, then enter a higher allocation of RAM. Windows® Users: Quit yourapplication, click on the application icon once and press “Alt.” + “Return”, click on“Memory”, then enter a higher allocation of RAM.

5. If all else fails, take your document, fonts, and all supporting graphics down to yourlocal service bureau and have it printed on a printer with more memory.
