My name is Miss Stagg. I am a

speech therapist and I will be your speech teacher this year.

Each student will come to speech 2 days each week

and will be assigned a time to come.

When do we come to speech?

Students come to speech for 20 minutes.

How long is speech?

Students are expected to come directly to speech at their assigned times and go back to class quickly and quietly when their speech time is up.

How do we come to speech?

We have speech for 3 weeks in a row, and then we

are off for 1 week.

Sometimes I have to meet with teachers or parents. During those times that I am unavailable, I hang a stop sign on my door.

What if the door has a stop sign on it when we come to speech?

When you see a stop sign on the door you are to go directly back to class quickly and

quietly.

Who can help you practice your speech homework?

Once you finish practicing your speech with your homework helper, they can sign your homework log to verify that you practiced.

Approximately every 6 weeks we will have “store day” where you are able to trade in your

H. A. P. Y. S. for treats and/or rewards.

You and your homework helper will decide which activity you will do each night.

Here are a few ideas that you can do to practice speech sounds:

What kind of homework will I have to do?

You can practice your speech sound while reading

out loud to your speech homework helper.

You can practice your speech sound exercises

while brushing your teeth.

You can practice your speech sound

with your homework helper while completing

worksheets provided to you in your speech folder.

You can practice by trying to come up with as many

words as you can that contain your sound while riding in the car on your

way to school.

You can practice your sound by trying to find as many items as you can in

the store that contain your sound while shopping with

your parents.

After you finish your daily speech homework, don’t forget to have your homework helper write the activity down in the homework log and sign their name to verify that you practiced.

Bring your homework and the homework log with you the next time you come to speech and receive your H. A. P. Y. S. for each day that you practiced!

Practicing your sounds every day is important. It will help you to make a new habit and soon you will be using the right

sound all the time!
