Welcome Message
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is an honor to invite you to attend the 1st Regional Autism Conference “Autism: Understanding Beyond Difference” which will be held at Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre in Muscat on 24-26 January 2020.
Globally, 1 in 160 children has an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), according to World Health Organization (WHO) report. In the Gulf region, significant steps in terms of identifying children with ASD and extending the different aspects of support for them has already been taken but there’s so much more that needs to be addressed. Due to this reason, we felt the urgency of community involvement, from trainers, educators, health professionals, family members to policymakers, in the early diagnosis and treatment of children under this spectrum.
This conference aims to take that brave step to raise public awareness by organizing the 1st Regional Autism Conference. We are grateful to have a rich and informative program covering genetics, autism and epidemiological aspects of the spectrum to be delivered by world-renowned speakers. We urge you to join us in this noble cause. Together, we can change the lives of our children, make them smile and see the beauty of the world regardless of this challenging condition.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to welcoming you.

Destination
MUSCATMuscat is considered the pulsating heart of Oman. It is linked to Port Sultan Qaboos by Muttrah Corniche where the visitor to Muscat can view the wonderful variety of nature: golden beaches, mountainous heights, and golden sand dunes.
Perhaps what is striking about Muscat is the breathtaking intermingling of ancient cultural heritage and modern style. Houses, gates, old markets, small shops, and winding roads redolent of authentic history, side by side with modern markets, shops, buildings, and streets stamped with modern architecture. This allows Oman to preserve its historic character, and at the same time enjoying its contemporary spirit.
ClIMATELike the rest of the Persian Gulf, Oman generally has one of the hottest climates in the world — with summer temperatures in Muscat and northern Oman averaging 30 °C to 40 °C Oman receives little rainfall, with annual rainfall in Muscat averaging 100 mm (3.9 in), falling mostly in January.
gETTINg AROUNDMuscat International Airport is located approximately 14 km from the city center of Muscat. Traveling within Muscat can be a bit of a challenge because the city is spread out between mountains. Taxis are generally available and don’t run by meters, so make sure you ask your hotel to estimate how much it will cost to reach your destination.
lANgUAgEThe national language of Oman is Arabic. English is adopted as the second language of Oman; tourists have definitely no difficulty in communicating with the Omani people. In the city, English is greatly used especially in business relations.

CURRENCyThe official currency of Oman is the Omani Riyal (OMR). The Omani Riyal is fixed to the dollar with 1USD = 0.39OMR. Credit cards are widely accepted, and ATM’s are plentiful.
